If someone was going to pay $1,000,000 for a gold plated and rebadged Royal-would bet the person would hire someone to do his vacuuming and bring their own machine.and yes,the 10A Royals make too much noise-the 7A models do just as well and are quieter-and to top it off----that gold plated Royal is made in China!Bet you could buy a metal Royal vacuum-then have a plating shop plate it in gold for less cost.

There is vacuum shop here that had a 24k gold plated Kirby vacuum for sale for far less. It was done at a local plating shop and never picked up when they found out how much the total was for the plating. The vac shop got a really good deal. I think he ended up selling it eventually but not sure I remember to whom.

I do love my 7 amp Royal upright, a very good cleaner. The 10 amp is indeed loud but in it's defense, that is one powerful cleaner with the fixed nozzle - definitely pulls the dust up out of the rug!

The 24karat gold vacuum from Odowds was indeed real gold platted. My friend bought that and one other original plated kirby from him.

The gold plated one was in a fire, so a customer wanted it redone in real gold and he had it refinished. Never payed for it.

If I had $1 million to drop on a vacuum, I'd hire a cleaning staff to clean my house instead. That way the windows, fixtures, etc. would be cleaned too, and for far less $$$.
