Many many thanks for the service manual scans!

Hi Andy.

Thanks for taking the time and faff to scan and post the above two manuals!

Its great to be able to get a full electrical lowdown on the 1600 and get a better idea of the 1830.
The divergent parts details for the 1830 dont give any hints that it was purpled in any way, shape or form. Certainly sound like with was a 1600 with white top and dial and a clear door bowl. This confirms what some have said, but certainly adds confusion re the awkward angle photograph that exists of one. Perplexed for sure.

Until a close up photograph of one surfaces, I doubt we will ever know for sure. I have been buying mail order catalogues on disk for a while now and sign of the 1830 there is none. Hotpoint was certainly more interested in peddling the 1850, than of pushing the old fashioned, throwback 1830.

Certainly perceive it as being the runt of the litter.

Thanks again for the scans.
Paul
ps. I have a spreadsheet detailing all of the Hotpoint models covered in this thread, but taken further through to the end of the WM series. If you want a copy - send me an e-mail and I will replay, attaching it.

pps. good luck with the 1828/02 - be great to see some photos of it, when it becomes accessible.

and finally...

the machine that caused so much frustration last year!

The English Electric version, unfortunately a touch far away - in Greece.
Hey ho.

a nice selection of photos of the 1600 accumulated over the years - but where is the 1830?

Cheers
Paul
