Hey Paul
Thanks we have been after a Hoovermatic for ages and couldn't believe it when this came into the BHF where Matt does function testing. I'm told that this is indeed a pretty rare model as it was only made for about a year in 81/82.
If I had to pick my favourite Hoovermatic it would probably be the T5004, simply because my Uncle Dave had one and I used to love helping Mum when we visited hin in Devon during the Summer Holidays. However as this matches Kelly I'm not complaining lol.
The Blue Spot belt is ordered and we have a NOS fill hose for a T5004 etc which shall have the nipple from the old one transplanted onto it. Also Matt nabbed a good used pump from Ebay for £4.20 plus post so we have a spare .
Cheers

Lovely find there boys, you cant beat as it sweeps Hoovers use of colour on their appliances!!, now get that matt car polish out, those lids suffer dreadfully from water marks etc....
great twin tubs there, I don't usually express interest in twin tubs but they look good and they look great fun 2 use as well.
chestermikeuk, your model was made in March 1982, 5 months after SeamusUK's one. And would I be right in saying that Hoover made it's last twin tubs in 1993? I was only a toddler then so I wouldn't have remembered it back then.
I was never a particular fan of Twin Tubs either. I knew a fair few of them around, but at the time I didn't like them much as I couldn't see what was going on inside - I was too small .
I have used them since and they are great fun and wash well, but I couldn't imagine using one on a daily basis. They were brilliant for the time, though. Automatic's were incredibly expensive and twin tubs were far more affordable. My Mum remembers my Grandma getting her first twin tub and the time and effort it saved her from previously washing everything by hand for 6 children - Grandma thought all her birthdays had come at once lol.
As fun as they are, Hoover's "boil wash action" did tend to get things tangled quite a lot. The Hotpoint and Servis twin tubs with the vertical agitator was better.
Hey Mike
Nice to see another one- hopefully ours will do up as well .
We are picking it up tomorrow - the new pump belt came today........
Cheers
