Almost Magic
In light of what Veg has been through, I will take this opportunity to tell any who are interested about something I always keep on hand. Our pediatrician told us about LACTINEX tablets and said that if everyone used them at the first sign of a crummy tummy, doctor visits would be cut in half. Lactinex tablets are a source of the "good" bugs that live in the gut. Viral or bacterial infections can overwhelm them. Taking antibiotics can kill them. That's why you can get the awful gastro-intestinal upsets while on a course of strong antibiotics. These are available at the pharmacy counter. You do not need a prescription for them, but they have to be kept refrigerated so they are kept in the fridge behind the counter and in the fridge is where they should be kept at home. At first sign of stomach distress, chew three and drink something with sugar to help them grow. They have a pleasant, almost malted milk flavor. Repeat two or three times a day until symptoms abate. There are many products at the health food stores now that do the same thing. These products sure can help tame a raging viral or bacterial invader. If they don't seem to help, get in touch with your doctor.
Veg, I hope you are well on the way to recovery. BA, I am sure that this has not been the weekend you had planned. Thank you for taking care of Veg and for keeping your good spirits through all of this.
