Hi Everyone, please use this thread to report any bugs or other odd things you find with the new posting system. I probably won’t reply or answer everyone’s message, as I will be busy looking for the bugs, but please do report these things as you see them. Please don’t use this particular thread for anything but reporting and discussing possible bugs and their resolution, Thanks!

Problem #1--Originally Posted

First problem of the evening: In the Imperial forum, "Our First Post" should say "Originally Posted 9/4/04 18:39 by Unimatic1140". Instead it says "Originally Posted 9/4/04 19:12 by westytoploader."

I didn't start that thread, obviously...

Thanks Austin, yes looks like you've found our first bug. I will have to keep a watch on that. It's updating the index with the wrong info, but not all the time. Hmmm strange.

Back Button

Hi Robert:

Everything looks great! I did want to mention that once logged in, I can't seem to use my browser's 'Back' button to return to other pages outside this site. I.E. 6.0 is what I use. Clicking the 'Back' button will take you only so far as the home page; you can't (or at least, I can't) back up to previously viewed pages.

Minor.

One Bug Down (I Hope)

OK the Index Bug where the Name of the Person who started the Thread is changing is now fixed, I believe. But lets watch it closely. Austin your name should dissapear from the post in the Modern forum the next time someone replies to that thread, it should go back to Unimatic1140.

Hi Sandy, welcome

I cannot duplicate the back button issue your having. I tried starting at CNN, I come into the forum using my favorites and then I can back up to CNN using my back button.

OK Robert it's changed to what it should be <br
I don't think this will "stop us in our tracks", but might be annoying to whoever started the post...

A NEW BUG, BUT

I found a bug in the counter of the Number of Replies, the number showing the "Number of Replies" on the Index Pages was not always correct. I fixed the problem, but in doing so all the Threads that were created before I made this fix will have their counters start over.

Small growing pains, hopefully soon we will have all this stuff worked out.

Last Replied By and Date

Glenn and Louis, I was thinking about that last night too. It would be nice to see the last replied by member name and date/time. Also I will have to see if I can get the link to turn back to blue when it is replied to. I will work on that over the next day or two.

One Down -- One to go

There now at least the replied by and time are being shown to, I still have to work on the link color issue, that will take a bit more time.

Hi Dan, that wouldn't be a good idea. The threads are in the order of the time of their last post. If I put them in post # order the posts at the top would become old very quickly and it would be hard for members to know which ones have new postings in them that they didn't read.

But thanks for the suggestion as I'm always looking for new ideas.

It's New, It's Blue!

OK I made some major code changes to get the little Thread # Links in each index to turn back from Purple to Blue everytime someone posts a reply in a message. That way all threads that have new replies will be highlighted and easy for everyone to find. Since this code change was rather significant, please be on the lookout for new bugs.

The new blue link will start with this post.

Thanks everyone!

linking to new site.

HI ROBERT ! This is my problem. I am on AOL. When i go to the site, it takes me to the old site. On internet Explorer it does not. I have cleared my cache and history lists. Still It takes me to the old site. May be that I have a button that was linked to the old site. I have not tried taking that button off the toolbar yet and adding another.
OH ! and thanks for all you do. LOVE the new site......

IT works now......

ROBERT !! You are truly a wizard. I went to see what the address was in the search bar on AOL and when I clicked on it, It redirected me to the automaticwasher.org site. Thanks again for all your hard work and devotion to this site. I am Tom. If anyone is wondering ....the screen name JMIRAWM.....

not a bug , but a possible suggestion ( 2 actually )

I'm not a computer Guru - so what I am suggesting may be totally off the wall - in which case I appologize.

1) Would it be possible to add a " button " following a poster's name and location that would bring up their profile?

2) Would it be possible to put a " button " between the two dark lines at the end of the postings in a thread, that would return us to the opening page of that forum ? I realize this can be accomplished by the " back " button on the toolbar - just thought it might be easier if it were on the screen in front of us...
