O.K. guys, so I struggled with this camcorder, computer, and Youtube, but I think I did it. I tried to # the clips so the video plays in order, but they came out backwards anyways. You all can figure it out, I'm sure. And YES ROSS, there's the Chinese TIDE!

Thanks for the videos, John! It has a very interesting agitation action and really moves the clothes and water around vigorously. I can see why HE detergent is needed.

I've used Chinese Tide before, having been sent some as a gift by Retromom (Venus). It was certainly not low-sudsing, but I loved the almond-y scent.

Almondy scent? Does it smell like fortune cookies? I tried the SPIN & SPRAY RINSE video, but for some reason it came out BAD on Youtube, so I replaced it with a 45 second RINSE video (#5). And another pic for my friend ROSS! Now all we need is Carol Marol behind door #3!

John--- I use a few special settings (I have a 2005 iMac) in QuickTime to get better quality video on YouTube. I found these hints at Vimeo, which is like YouTube, but not as popular. Their big selling point at the time was the quality of posted videos was better at Vimeo than at YouTube.

Anyway, these are the settings in QuickTime that I use:

Compression Type: Sorensen Video 3
Frame rate: Current fps
Key Frames: Every 60 frames
Data Rate: Restrict to 1200/kbits/sec.
Quality: Best
Size: Use current size

Don't know if all this is Mac specific, but the quality of the finished product on YouTube is great.

I think the Chinese Tide has an almond-like scent; At any rate, it's different than American Tide. It's a warmer, mellower scent.

Maybe we need to come up with a universal glossary of descriptive words to use for detergents, ala the wine-tasting industry, LOL!

Great videos of this machine. Can see why you wouldnt want to overload this machine. Wash action is pretty impressive. Thanks for posting the videos!

Very cool action! I wonder if the turning basket keeps things from tangling. That's one thing I didn't like about the Harmony was how it rolled everything into a big ball. Do you see this in the Mao?

I suspect we'll be seeing this with a GE label on it in the not-so-distant future ;-)

Very Cool Machine!
Very quiet!
Did you by chance make any videos of the final spin?
Thanks for posting!
It looks to be very well made.
Brent

Hi John. I enjoyed the rinse video. It came out great.
Was the Chinese Tide packed inside? Was anything else packed inside your new machine?

Ross

That wash action is VERY similar to the GE Hydrowave, except that the agitator moves in a 360 degree arc while the tub is stationary. Makes the same type of sounds as well. GE uses an inverter motor to accomplish back and forth agitation.

HI GUYS! Guess the CHAIRMAN's movie went over well. Sorry about the picture quality-I never posted on YOUTUBE before and for those of us who are technologically ILLITERATE, I was just happy I got something to upload. It only took me 2 DAYS to do! Anyways, yes, it does wash similar to the GE HARMONY (which is made by LG) if you have the HARMONY set for HIGH water level (otherwise no comparison), but without tangling. I own a HARMONY, and yes, it sometimes tangles things. I suspect the tub rotation on the HAIER really helps to prevent the knots. Sorry about not posting a spin video-I tried, but it came out all blurrey and noisey! I wish I could figure out how to change the settings on Youtube for a clearer picture, but as of yet, it's greek to me. I'll work with it some more, as well as post some other videos of the other Haier-made washers (portables) I have. The HARMONY I can't figure out the lid switch, and filming through the glass lid will only make glare. Thanks for the comments and stay tuned. The Chairman is resting now.

Great video

and love the wash action. I especially love that it can be set to fill to the top! Clothes need that sometimes.

Does the rinse cycle also fill all the way up? or has it been dumbed-down for Energy Star? Would be a shame if it was one of those spray-only rinses.

Gansky1, thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. If no luck I'll E-mail Robert-he seems to be my HARMONY Technical Support. Oh and Patrick, yes to both questions! The Genesis will fill up ALL THE WAY to the top for the Rinse cycle when you push the EXTRA RINSE button, otherwise all you get is a SPRAY-Rinse. So the EXTRA-Rinse button is permanently set on The CHAIRMAN!

Sorry about not posting a spin video-I tried, but it came ou

Spin videos are going to be blurry and noisy. It is the result of "washer wind" kicked up when spinning. They are blurry because they spin at a framerate faster then most camcorders can record at. You could, however, try the sports setting on your camcorder. It is a video setting most camcorders have designed for capturing high-speed action.
