So after that good cleaning I checked on my check valve, it wasn't full of stuff but it is stuck in the half-open position. That was probably the real problem like you all said but cleaning out the sump was good times. So this valve is NLA but someone mentioned I can use a GE part?

Even tho the machine works properly now I want to replace this too. Any thoughts on the GE part?

Thanks!
Steven

use it without it for now?

can I use the machine withoutthis check valve until I get a new one? what are the consequences?

So you blew through it in both directions?  My bad valve would close if I blew through it really hard in the "close" or backwards flow direction but wouldn't close on its own.  Weird that yours is stuck halfway.  It may be trying to close, which is the position it should be in unless water is passing through it during draining.  With all that junk that was in the bottom of your machine, you may find an obstruction in the check valve that's preventing it from closing.

It's my understanding that a bad check valve could possibly reduce the force of the spray during wash & rinse functions but the machine is likely to still run fine for the time being if the valve is indeed bad.  Eliminating the check valve entirely is probably not a good idea.

yup it's stuck

no matter how hard I blow it won't budge. I can force it down with a screwdriver tho but it always comes back to half way. I just want the back pressure off the motor it's had a rough enough time with all that crap in the pump. I couldn't believe all soap caked up in the wash arm support it cleans so much better now even with a stuck check valve

KD 21-22 CHECK VALVES

You can use GE PT # WD1X466 valve flapper in the KA check valve. The KA CV unscrews in the center and you can replace the CV flapper, and yes you do need a new one if it is warped. You can use the machine without the CV but the pump will suck air back into the recirculating water stream and reduce the already weak flow to the upper wash arm and reduce the cleaning mainly in the top rack.

oh it comes apart.

thanks john, didn't know it came apart. I cleaned it out and the rubber is a little tough but it'll do till I get the new part. thanks for your help, by the way this the guy who came to see you a few years back on my way to new York.

WHOO HOO!! Just got off the phone with John. The washer arm support will be on the way! What a nice, knowledgeable fella! Thanks so much John!!

alright, I tried to find that GE part, but to no avail. Does anyone have a link for the new flapper. Here is mine, she is toast!!

What makes them get warped and stuck like that?  Super hot water?  The one on my ISE wasn't warped, but was stuck in the full open position.  I could blow in the assembly backwards and it would close, but blowing through it the other way would push it open and it would stay there.  Fortunately, the other ISE had a good one on it for me to use.

Thanks for the correct GE part number.  It will come in handy in the future, I'm confident of that.

Im not sure what causes it, but I can tell you that the rubber flapper on mine is actually swelled up, I would say a good 1/4 inch over its original size. I think that is what caused it to warp, just in order to stay inside the housing. The new flapper is much smaller via the pictures.
