Happy Day ! I've been looking for this Crosley for a while.
I just picked this one up today. Some cracked plastic here and there - and I think I am missing one shelf at the top - but overall pretty nice box ! Thought I'd share the joy !

More Crosley

another shot - Is there supposed to be a tray clipped on the door down at the bottom ? - Looks like I might be missing that too ...

Those features look really high-tech for the day...very nice unit! How does the water chiller function...is there a way to dispense water into a glass?

Shelvadoor.First refrigerator with shelves on the door.Bygted,If I'm not miss taken,I think I heard that they(Crosley)are searching for the oldest running Shelvadoor refrigerator out there. It's a contest. You may want to call their manager.I forgot her name but she asked if I had or knew anyone who had one.Go to (www.crosley.com )and call the toll free number.Good luck!!!

water dispenser

The round button at the top of the circle trim is where you hold your glass - you puch the button and the wated comes out.
It's does not actually hook to the water line though - there is a big bin attached to the inside top section of the door and the water just comes out like it would from a cooler. Still pretty cool for 1953.

I got this from a guy who ran an ad to sell it. It was in the basement of course and we took it out through a Bilco door with a very steep - ladder-esque stair case. Not fun !
But definitely worth the effort !

It runs quiet and cold !

Everything on the interior is a cut above the norm - all the drawers have rollers and tracks and there are chrome trim strips running the perimeter of both sides of the inside doors.

The freezer drawers at the bottom are cool also. I have seen several variations of this model - from freezer at the top -to no freezer at all. I think I like this configuration the best because the drawers gave them yet another place to put trim and an emblem !

Great find!

I believe CROSLEY was the first company to put chilled water in the door.
I have my Grandmother's 1954 CROSLEY still running in my basement. No water in the door but it just keeps on going. I'll never part with it.
It too looked a little grungy after living in the garage for a few years, but a good scrubbin' made it look really nice once again.
Installing a replacement three-prong grounded cord is a good idea. I'm glad I did as the thermostat eventually grounded to the cabinet. It tripped the breaker (as designed). After putting a new thermostat in we were good to go once again!

Crosley meets a friend

I recently found this 49 Kelv - It has MILES of glass inside including a cool option that I don't see too much - Hinged glass doors ! NEATO

The chrome lettering at the bottom names this unit as the "Moist Master" kinda sounds gross- ?

Looks like I will have to get a new piece of glass as one is cracked - Luckily this type of "reeded" glass is still available at most glass shops !

My daily use GE

The door is pretty simple - but this has to be the cleanest Fridge I ever scored. I got it at an estate sale about 12 years ago. It was the most immaculate house I had ever been in.
