Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

It's Sooooooooo Quiet

My Laundry is right next to my Bedroom. I can't hear it running. The Drain Pump is the Noisiest Thing on the Whole Machine !!!

Sheets are in on Normal, Very Warm Wash starts at 1:05.

Money Shot after the Sheets come out.

It's sort of Bitter Sweet, I miss the sounds of the Maytags (they're still hooked up of course), But it's fun to have a New Toy so to speak.

Why not a Speed Queen ?

For the most part I chose the Miele is because of the Heater.

My Kitchen clothes get spattered with a fair amount of Butter, Oil, and just plain food soil. And with the Heater, I'm hoping I won't need to use Bleach which will be an advantage for the Septic System. (Plus, I'm hoping once I get into the programming I'll find a recepe for a Gulasch and Spaetzle) LOL.

Also I have a Cousin in Esslingen, Germany and Hannah said to buy a Miele. And when Hannah Speaks... You had better listen !!!

One thing to learn about the Miele is that the Normal cycle does not use the heater as it's the Energy Star cycle - so to speak.

I wasn't referring to the service manual in case you should need a repair but because it allows you to alter some setting, like raising the water level for the rinses by several inches.

Very nice! This washer is very flexible and when you getting into the programming mode you can raise the water levels with water plus. The heater in my 4800 does kick in on the Normal cycle if the water is not hot enough. One thing with the drum, if you have pets and wash a blanket with let's say cat fur, it will make mats of fur. You may never need to use the Extended feature since it washes well without t. That said if you do use it I have noticed on mine that the clothes look a bit over worked and tired. So I never use it. Oh and try to use powder HE detergents. It does not like liquids.

She's pretty, best of luck, and I love how the Miele name is part of the glass door. Please post some pictures during a wash cycle, and maybe with a higher water level.
Best of luck
Mike

Thanks Alex

For the e-mail. I'll get to them in awhile.

Hi Mike. I'm using Persil Universal Powder. I always use powders even in the dishwashers. I e-mailed Miele and he told me to start with 2 tablespoons and see how that works. So far for my sheets it worked fine.
Be back in a short while. Thanks again for the tips.

One thing too is that the washer doesn't pussyfoot around with balancing. It will do the graduated spin in the final spin. It extracts well and yes the pump is a tad noisy. Spin is very effective. Persil is a great detergent powder I love the MegaPearls Universal. Tide HE powder works very well in this washer. I tried Tide HE liquid and it was a disaster. Mega suds because of the drum design and it will add rinses to get rid of the suds. Then with mine I get the scolding Oversuds light lit up.

Balancing.

I've watched YouTubes and have read about how some of the FLs take forever to balance a load. I watched this machine through 2 cycles and it really gets right to it.
I've been using Persil for about 2 years now (Maybe 3) and I love the scent and the performance. Guess I'll stick with a good thing.

Congrats!

Have been considering either the 4**** or 3**** series to take some of the work off my W1070 and thus prolong it's life (and reduce service calls from Miele).

Both units pop up as used in good condition around here fairly often and usually can't be given away for love nor money, don't ask me why.

One thing that slightly bothers me is that the units must remain plugged in otherwise each time they are "restarted" the washer goes through setting up process. At least this is what one has heard and since one has several other appliances that require the outlet in that area (dishwasher, two washing machines, microwave, convection oven) that wouldn't be easy.

Thank You Laundress and Everyone

It really is a Stunning Machine.

And once again, soooo quiet. The only time you really hear the motor is when it's ramping up to 1400. Once it reaches 1400, it's quiet and very smooth. I think I'll start another Wash.

Oh Yes, Mike : The Shredmore is hooked up as well on the Laundry Line with the Maytag 806. The Shredmore has been the designated "Dog Blanket and Car Towel Washer. The 806 will be used for Smaller/Partial Loads.[this post was last edited: 2/24/2012-20:41]

Really? Do you? Can You?

Well that put's a completly different complexion on things. Thank you for that.

There are times when one wishes to wash larger loads and or items without having to use the local laundromat or endless loads in the W1070. Still as space for the 48XX would be tight something else would have to go.
