The differences between a tag sale vs. an estate sale

Never really hear of estate sales referred to as tag sales here. I think that's more of a northern definition.

I prefer to go to estate sales as they seem more worthwhile than going to lots of yard or garage sales with less stuff. And - estate sales tend to have more vintage items and sometimes things that people don't bother to put out at yard sales.

The estate sale business is a big one here, there are a few local companies that organize them and post photos of the items online. I'll usually check there and see if anything catches my eye. Sometimes I go just to see the houses, there have been some really high end homes having these sales lately.

The term "tag sale" is definitely a regional thing.  I have never seen an ad or a sign for a "tag" sale here on the west coast.  There are two types:  Garage/yard and estate sales.  That's it.  Rummage sales are, as a general rule, associated with fund raising.

I don't see how garage or yard sales can be called "tag" sales when in an overwhelming number of instances, nothing is priced.  IMO, an "estate" sale comes closer to a "tag" sale because almost every item has a price, either on an individual tag or a sign that indicates cost per unit, such as with books or records.

Never seen tag sale where I am-typically yard and garage sales-and occasioanl estate sales and auctions.Lately I have given up on yard sales-so far all the ones I have seen are nothing but baby clothes and stuff, old worn out clothes and knick-knacks.No good stuff like vacuums,appliances,books,records-CDs-DVDs and similar things-also tools and kitchen stuff.
