And think of all the heat generated by those vacuume tubes. Dig that wall-mounted monitor--IBM should take note with their conference room flat panel wall screen.
I wouldn't be able to see that wall mounted screen. Would have to have a whole other room for a display I could read.

Looks like a control room for a small nuclear power plant. Hmm, come to think of it, we were supposed to have reactors in our basements by now too.
A lifetime's worth of virtually unlimited electricity, heat, and hot water for a few pounds of uranium. Enough power to keep your electric station wagon, electric citycar, and electric sportster all charged up and ready to zip off to town or a weekend vacation (we were supposed to have a 4-day work week by now also). Not to mention keeping y'all's historic appliance collections powered-up and humming along. And enough heat to run the thermal snow-melter under the driveway, keep the greenhouse nice & warm so you can have fresh citrus fruits any time of year, and the backyard swimming pool warm all year 'round. Speaking of "might have been..."
And the steering wheel operates the overhead crane to change out the fuel rods every five years or so; outer wheel for traverse and inner wheel for hoist?
Question is, which of those dials shows how much power you're selling back to your local utility? And where's the control to switch over to your photovoltaics when you're doing routine reactor maintenance and safety checks?

Drmitch, re. "don't think they've got it," try Macintosh and you'll see, Apple has definitely got it. Simple, clean, and fast. No problems with viruses, adware, spyware, popup pollution, or any of that frustration. Rumor has it there'll be a $500 iMac coming out shortly, so there's almost no excuse for not making the switch. (I don't work for Apple.)
And, Jetcone, thanks for the link, that picture is definitely going up on my company website, which shouldn't violate copyright since it's "fair use" and will be given proper attribution (Pop Mech 1954).

Yes...looking closely, I see the Teletype console looks a little "flat"...and superimposed! The man & TV were done excellently though!
