Well I finally got the Generation 3 finished. Here is the final product.

Runs BETTER than new with the new style emptor, new style fill tube, and new style bag, as well as the newer stiffer bristle brush roll.

And a new fan. :P this thing is practically new.

All parts replaced with new genuine kirby parts--

Outer bag
Bag guard on top,
Fill tube
Emptor assembly
brush roll
Fan
The belt pulley
Cord
Scuff plate
Rear wheels
Plastic portion of the handle (NOT the back)
Belt
Bearings

All for $120. Take it to a vacuum store or buy parts on ebay and expect to pay well over double that.
I have "connections!"

Here is the before.

And here it is after a complete strip down, and clean up. The entire transmission was rebuilt. So it shifts like a brand new kirby. Not jerky like the old g3s.

Visible scratch still on light cap. Couldn't get it out, but it was much worse before!

Angled shot.

The bag may not be so original because of the logo difference, but the pattern matches the handle sticker exactly. Also really like the new black zipper and black stitching.

Scuff plate.

Still has the original handle tilt lock. Most G3s had these replaced because they tended to break.

Shiny new wheels!

Rear.

You know. I really really like that bag! Even though its still all wrinkled from the packaging. :P

Ugh. I need a G3 now! Its my favorite generation model.

Thanks for the complements guys!

This is definitely the most extensive restoration I have done I believe. Every part got dismantled and cleaned.

I even took the fancase off. Which is glued on. My friend, John, assisted in re-gluing it back on.

Wish I could get my bench polisher working right. Something isn't right with it, and the pads wont stay spinning. Will have to read the manual closer and see if I can fix it.

G3

I have one of these in storage but know nothing about them. It seems in decent shape... Are they decent machines? I don't know a lot about vacs.

They are great machines! The praticular G3 above is from 1990. Aside from a dog ruining the bag, and a few cosmetic issues, it still ran well and worked as it should.

A bit of tweaking, a new bag and brush roll, as well as some other cosmetic changes, its like new!

They are super easy to work on too.

Id say bring her out and fire her up! They are fantastic cleaners.
