Yes folks, today at the WalMart where I tried unsuccessfully to find some Fab Spring Magic Liquid, I found yet ANOTHER new Gain. Couldn't quite believe my eyes and nose at first, but there it was - "Gain Joyful Expressions" in the unbelievable "Apple-Mango Tango" (yes I am quite serious) fragrance. I think there is another new fragrance , but WalMart being what it is, they had shelves and shelves of only this one fragrance.

To call it vile is the utmost compliment. I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would willingly wash anything in this. It was at the same time, overpoweringly sweet, pungent and reeked of rotting artificial fruit. AND, while WalMart doesn't yet have it, I understand there will be a matching fabric softener - - natch!!

I realize I rant and rave about these things, but enough already. What amazes me is that people work at P&G, and actually get paid to develop, test and market this crap.

Kind of makes you wonder what THEY are using on THEIR laundry. I have a theory that they have a secret stash of vintage Tide, Cheer, Oxydol, Bold and Dash that they can access at will as long as they keep pumping out all this "new and improved" garbage to the general public......

I love Fab too! The Magic Spring liquid does a great job cleaning,is a low sudser, and smells "fab" too! It is available at Dollar General Stores in Indiana. I use Purex,Tide, and Fab. Always use Purex for colors,Fab for whites, towels, and bedding, and Tide only if something is REALLY dirty. (car rags, ect.) Fab is my Fav.

What this is, is another attempt

to corner the Hispanic market. Corporations in the US are just now getting around to learning how huge the Hispanic market is in the United States. And now they are realizing that this is a market that has been largely ignored, up until now. Hispanics love citrusy things, and this new Gain is right down the center of what hispanic preferences may be.
Is the Spanish direction typeface larger than the English typeface on the box?

You can expect big changes to all previously owned colgate detergents.(Fab,Dynamo, Fresh Start, etc). Colgate sold the laundry detergent division to Phoenix Brands. This is the same company that bought Sunlight and Final Touch from Unilever.

Apple-Mango Tango Gain isn't loud at all. It is pretty subtle in an apple kind of way, less than Tide/Febreze, Downy aromatherapy and all the other flavors of Gain. The detergent bottle is funky, very jug-like.

I'm going to behave--

although it is such a challenge.

The detergent companies are never, ever going to put out detergents in scents that really appeal to me (when I'm in heat.)

Joyful expressions......

A friend and I were in K Mart sniffing all the detergents and fabric softners.....We came upon the new gain. I loved the shape of the bottle.....then I opened the lid and put it to my nose.....UGHHHHHH. Apple mango tango is the most awful smell i ever smelled. I cant believe anyone would put that in the laundry. The other fragrance was Gardenia Delight. I did not like that fragrance either, But it was not near as bad as the Apple, Mango, Tango.<p> I dont know what someone is thinking in the manufacture of these or how they even made it as far as store shelves. I dont think they will be around long. IMHO.

Oh, I don't know

I washed sheets with the sample I got of Apple Mango Tango and they smell pretty good. Not strong at all.

'Course, I wouldn't actually buy the stuff, but it's nice if it's free!

Mutilated Mango

When I bought my home about nine years ago, I took a month off work and set about to repaint the interior (where needed, which was just about everywhere except the kitchen), and refinish the floors.

I went by the old adage that warm sunny rooms need a cool color, and darker, cooler rooms need a warm color. So I went down to the Evil Orange and bought about 10 gallons each of a cool and a warm color.

The cool color worked out really well. It was a very pale blue with a hint of violet in it. Called something like Pale Chambray.

The warm color was another matter. It looked ok in the store, kind of like a pale peach, but when I got it on all four walls (I painted the ceilings all white), it came out more like a sallow beige. I tried mising iwth iwth some other color, like more red or yellow, but it only came out worse. I put aside the experimental batch and finished the job with the sallow beige. Its given name was "Muted Mango", but when I went back to the store I told the paint guy I had a new name for it: "Mutilated Mango"... he gave a big smile but of course there wasn't anything to be done at that point. Although I have plans at some future date to repaint the two rooms and hallway to something more palatable.

Maybe I can put a box of the Apple-Mango-Tango Gain in one of these rooms, to sort of complement the ugly color with a disgusting scent... LOL...

Well I think the important thing to remember here is, is that P&G has to market servey, and test market these things before they hit the shelves like they have. So people have told them that this is what they want. Although most of us here find that these new "Flavors" are just god aweful, someone out there told them this was a good idea. Winn Dixie has it on sale here in Florida for $4.99 a bottle/box. So I went and had the same reaction that most of you had. However, they did also have original Scent Gain HE on sale for the same price. I haven't used Gain in sometime since there was a discussion on here about Sears Advanced Ultra Plus. I came home and Put a load in the washer with Gain HE and Sure enough the washer went into a "Sud" routine. Suds were half way up the window on my HE3. Next load----Filled the cap half way up to Line 1. Same thing "Sud" routine. Wrote P&G a very nasty e-mail last nite so I'm waiting to here back from them. Seems to me that they are too worried about how many "Flavors" they can come up with so they are just putting regular Gain in HE bottles.
