Gods and demons-- hello, all-- it's been a long time since i posted, but i am a faithful fanatic appliance maniac and thank GOD i know i'm not alone!
I am writing because i know somebody has to relate to this... we have an old, probably 1975 or so Maytag DW, a WU-900 that cleans like a dream but can drown out a passing jet when running that is being upgraded for a 'GASP' brand new Frigidaire DW! Haven't lost sleep on it, but have no experience with Frigidaire brands in DW's, so it's a big leap of faith! (The price was really good, came with a package of stove, fridge, etc).
I chuckle to myself and feel some genuine sadness and seeing the old Maytag go... Reminds me of a 1974 Kenmore DW my Grandmom had that kind of solidified my whole how-does-it-work and what's-it-doing thing in my DNA. Cycle indicator lights, timer that clicks and clacks like the old city busses when dropping coins in their meters, yeah... the good ol' days! This bugger good powerscrub the undercoating off a pickup truck bed, if you could fit it in there, those of you who have had these ol' Maytags have attested to their cleaning ability.
My wife shakes her head at me and smiles... she knows i'm nuts like this, but hey! It's all good! We're ALL crazy like that, or else none of us would have ever found it to this lovely website, right?
I am really going to miss the old girl... (the DW i mean, not the wife) I know i am not alone, that others have crossed this appliance Rubicon, so to speak, and i just had to share that after all this time, i still can find amusement even in myself for something most "normal" people find to be a no brainer-- well DUH-- it's old! Of course it has to be replaced!! ...uh huh. Sure! Someday i'll reunite with an old, noisy '74 Kenmore DW... until then, hope you get a warm laugh and good memories of your own out of reading this. Thanks for letting me share--
