I haven't tried it yet, but it smells fabulous. Here's the recipe I used...

1 1/4 cup sugar
3 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 ounces evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 pie crust uncooked

Heat oven to 325. Mix sugar, cocoa and butter in a large bowl. Add eggs and beat for 3 minutes. Add milk and vanilla. Beat until combined. Press pie crust into pie plate and prick the bottom of crust with a fork. Pour in filling and bake for 50 minutes. Let cool before serving.

There is another variation of this recipe that calls for 1 1/2 cups sugar, 3 tablespoons of cocoa and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Everything else is the same. Enjoy!

Oh, for sure gotta try this one!

"Minnie, have you lost your mind?"

"No ma'am, but you 'bout to!"

Priceless. Louis, you really have to read the book to appreciate the "special" ingredient. The movie touches on it, but I'd recommend the book.

I loved that book. When I read that part of the book, I laughed so hard I woke up the house.

There is a supervisor here at work I would love to bake the pie for, WITH the "special ingredient."

Made one tonight, very good, I ate half the pie!  Mine came out a little different looking than the one pictured, the top crust is a lighter brown and a bit crusty while the inside is very moist and tender.  I'll make it again...

Vern !!!

I don't know how I missed this post but this looks absolutely to die for.

How much easier can you get? Your finished pie looks perfect.

I will try this myself. Can't wait! Thank you again.

East of the Atlantic.....

Please pardon me showing my ignorance, but the tale of Miss Minnie's Pie is not common knowledge on this side of the pond.... Which book/film should I look for?? It certainly looks delicious... Who NEEDS a 'secret ingredient'?? ;)

Still trying to find my way around the site
