Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The same drum:

remember that SMEG is a smaller company than B/S/H or Indesit or Electrolux, so it can be that they outsourced the drum to the BSH group as they did with the previous line of 7 an 8 kg washing machine, before coming up with their own.

Same goes for the small oven like 60x60x60 cm dishwasher.

Or think about Eltek: they make the 80% of dishwasher detergent dispensers in Europe, be them Indesit, B/S/H, SMEG or AEG...

The good thing is that till today B/S/H appliances aren't crap, so having the same drum is a sign of quality and not otherwise! :)
Anyway, gimme a SMEG anyday instead of bland German design ehehehehe

Yes Gabriele you are right, they have probably outsorced the drum from the BSH group. This made me (not only me) confused by thinking that the machine is in fact a machine from BSH.
Anyway, one piece here one piece there... if a machine is built with quality, like this model from smeg, I don't care where they sourced the drum. :)

And yes, being a smaller company is sometimes better than being a big one! Not always, but I'm sure it makes you more ambitious.

this is now ME xD

Ingemar, you probably expected this one from me :P

But in what the hell situation is better to be small company rather than a big one? xD

And even on this thread, it was kinda negative way.. They couldn't make their own drum so they took one from BSH, but anyway I showed that Smeg makes it's own now, so it's good.. I like Smeg, and I like the fact it obviously make very sturdy machines.. only thing I would love to see them working, because I've never seen one live :D

umm no. that drum in that smeg WD is a whirlpool one, dont even try to convince me other as i have seen it in a free standing whirlpool 6th sense washer!
it makes sense that smeg sourced drums from wirlpool as the fl washers for europe are made in ITALY.
dont argue last time you argued i thought about leeving the site for good as i cant take it when you argu with one another
Tom

thanks for being pleasant

what I just said to Ingemar was an inside joke, not related to anything special...

I just posted a normal reply, and you started telling me I was convincing you.. I snapped only once on Candy thread, and since then my communication is very normal everywhere...

However it again appears that you don't like MINE oppineon, so find someone else that will agree that is a Whirlpool drum...personally I really don't care what drum it is, and I don't understand why are you being so rude to me now.

Hi Dex and hi Tom,

Tom I haven't understand if you were talking to me or to Dex when you said that about arguing.

Anyway, I would like to say and make it clear that I'm not here to argue with no one.

I was just sharing my opinions and my thoughts.
I was talking about the similarity (or equality) of the two drums in the picture I've posted (old siemens & silver smeg).
I am not talking about the drum from the picture Dex posted.

Ingemar

me too /last reply about this/

I would also like to make clear -- good idea Ingemar!

I was:
Sharing oppineons, comparing pictures from the internet.
Wrote normal comments (as always), In none of them I was talking to you (aegokocarat)
You came out of nowhere telling me I am arguing, and turtoring you, and that you'll leave this site.

I don't care what drum it is anymore, you made that atmosphere by telling here If I say it isn't Whirlpool, you'll start something very boring, by the way you don't have a right to forbid us to write anything on here, again, repeating specially when we aren't talking to you in person. In this particular case, just to be worse, I myself wrote another 4 companies that are in ''touch'' with Smeg...

But just of curiosity tell me what part of any text I wrote made you write such a rude reply to me?

Dex

i tryed not to make it sound rude!
i was say MY oppinion, i wasent aiming at any one and being dyslexyc its hard not to make things sound snippy.
sorry for any inconvenience

now back on subject...

This is a thread talking about rebadging...

What do you think of it?

Since I am great supporter of ideas that washing machine manufacturers publish, to make their washers special, I think it's a disaster.. because there's one less opportunity, and difference for us to see :(

How many times I wondered how would a Hoover or Hotpoint look like if they were still 'independent'.. what do you think about it?

Dex

Not a Whirlpool by any means, at least comparing it to my Whirlpool crapmachine made in late 2008 (but the drum is newer as it was changed in late 2009 due to failure)

Don't worry, push-button opening was a signature of integrated SMEG machines!

Anyway, other than that I've found this webpage, it says where SMEG products are made!

Translated: SMEG for years bought dishwashers from Vittorio Merloni (Ariston), then they started producing their own along washing domestic machines in a subsidiary company: Bonferraro that also produces (for rebadging) for Franke, Gorenje and Whirlpool.

not to drift away from the subject...

did hotpoint also comission bsh for a machine too? It was sold with the wma series i think

yes

Again the drum on the Whirlpool is the same as the WFS3040. So why coppy a drum when say if bosch had faild at it and then all the other makes fail??

they also made a creda branded model too! they pop up on ebay now and then (not very commen)they look a little chunky for my liking (well, the non digital version dose lol)
Tom.

darren

It was released with the wma series it was entirely dial controlled a bwm something. It was fast with 1600rpm,came out with the wma but,was replaced in 2003 with the bwm12 owing to the dreaded takeover. I know bsh did hotpoint dishwashers. I only wish bsh bought them, maybe theyd have been similar to their earlier generations.
