I really enjoy the comaraderie that the kitchen and it's gadgets inspire. I am warmed by the bonds you have formed and the longevity of friendships. It warms me from the inside out. Thank you for details and pictures!

LEAKY SEALS AND BAD MOTOR BEARINGS IN DISHWASHERS

Hi Fred if you keep running clean dishes in your KDS-17 you will ruin another seal and then motor. If there is one thing I have learned in 30+ years of fixing dishwashers is that the worst thing you can do to any dishwasher is to run it with almost clean dishes. The oils protect the machine and the sugars soften the water also citrus and tomato acids are beneficial to the process. Customers who pre rinse cut the life of the machine in 1/2 buy doing so to say nothing of the rack coating or your dishes which will etch much faster.Enjoy your KDS-17 that and the KDS-16 are two of my all time Favorites I even have two KDSS-16s with the SS tank.

John, that's exactly why I never rinse and will let my dirty dishes sit for 4-6 days. My GSD1200 PotScrubber and my Kenmore Elite Tall Tub--oatmeal and eggs don't win out -- the dishwashers do.

Later, we all played UNO after a wonderful dinner. The table is so big, we had to crawl on it to deal the cards. Well, OK, just Robert - but we moved our cocktails! This was agreed by all to be one of the best parts of the weekend - the drinks kept coming and the fun never stopped!

First rinse in the 52 Whirlpool, and only a standard measure

Greg, I guess you missed the print ads touting Whirlpool's Suds-Miser as well as their exclusive Suds-Locker. Guaranteed to squeeze and pinch every bit of suds and foam out of your wash water to be used and used and used again, such designed-in thriftiness for the discerning and economizer housewife. That's why so many husbands readily bought for their wives Whirlpool & Kenmore automatic washers!!

You know

these KA were just awesome. Granted you had to load the bottom rack right, but man did they clean, and with such short cycles. I made a friend in a retail store that at worked at when I was 16. She had the Superba KA. I was there for lunch on a Saturday, she made potato soup, and rice pudding. She put both big pots in the bottom rack, face down, loaded everything else in. 50 minutes later everything was sparkling clean, even things she put in the top rack over the pots. don't know how it happened, but that's when I became a KA fan.

Perp(s)?

Hmmph.. Well, I never!

I only pointed it out! I had no physical involvement in the removal of the thing in question.
