I saw a Mk301 at ironbridge museum, when I was about 10 years old.
Stood above me on a plinth, I could just reach the door release lever (that bit bolted to the door) but, as it wasnt plugged in, nothing happened.
It was a slightly sprung metal lever that you nudged against the edge of that metal plate. Weird set up.
Went back to search for it last summer and couldnt find a trace of it. All I assume is that it was probably Servis' own museum example, that they loaned out for an exhibition. God only knows where that machine is now:-(

Wow Seamus, well searched out...it is inded the Servis MK301 Selectronic, the Worlds First Computerised Washing Machine...Holy Grail Nu2!!!
Does look a bit different as the 301 had a brown fascia, earlier models had darker fascias but with the smaller plinthless cabinet...unless this was the last model version made before the 309 model & then the Quartz??

of the 301 Selectronic, this was first produced in 1975 for the Electrical AMDEA (Assoc Maunfactures of Domestic electrical Appliances) roadshow, when you think the first compact came out in 1972 they got their act together pretty quickly to start thinking of electronics!!!

Here's a couple3 of Youtube captures - it has the second version of door latch, but the facia is brown round the selector buttons, a case of 'none of the above' I think...
That's a very groovy machine, was only vaguely aware of them before, makes the rubbish Servis turned out in their last days look even more tragic. Hope one does turn up for someone!
