The Maytag CDE750 Halo-Of Heat Dryer Comes Back To Life

A month or so ago I finely put he MT dryer back together that matches the CA900 that I finished a year or so ago, pictures to follow.

Next I painted the inside of the heater shroud with Hi Temp paint and installed a new heater cut to the proper length to provide 4,500 watts of power when run on 208 volts. { MT suggested painting the heater shrouds in an effort to stop coins etc from shorting out the heater element in a service pointer } I really don't know how effective this would be but it looks nice LOL

I added a heater relay to protect the selector switch and motor centrifugal switches.

All this time I though the halo of heat was is the center of the tub!
Boy am I dumb!!!!

After it was all together the dryer ran quietly and dried well, but the electronic control would only shut off properly on the regular dry setting. After running it many loads it did not start working properly so I soldered all the wire terminals directly onto the little circuit board [ the terminals electrical connection to the board are often a problem on MT dryers as they age ] and SUCCESS it works perfectly, no new parts needed even the 1965 capacitor work perfectly.

 

It can now live at the museum for folks to enjoy, even thought like the matching washer it is a great looking appliance and works perfectly it is just not an outstanding dryer in performance, plus I an too cheap to pay to use an electrically heated dryer on a regular basis
