The Maytag Man

We went to the new R.C.Wiley store in Rocklin last Saturday. Warren Buffet was here the week before for the opening. It is part of the Berkshire Hathaway empire. The Maytag man was there and they took pictures. Maybe someone can tell if this guy is THE Maytag man. So this is me on the left, MM in the middle and my partner Bob on the right.

R.C.Wiley is a huge furniture store, carries TVs and washers and dryers and flooring. Of course I would rather pick up vintage furniture and appliances. I didn't see much to like but not really terrible stuff either. Not a wide selection of appliances other than washers and dryers. Also not much in the way of home theater, other than the TV itself. But still something to see. So now we have Ikea in West Sacramento and R.C.Wiley in Rocklin all within about 30 minutes of where we live.

MAYTAG REPAIR MAN

Yes he's official! He lives in Sanford,Fl.(about 17 miles northwest of me)and offered me a Maytag Gyromatic wringer washer during my visit last year to the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industrial Show) in Las Vegas.He replaced Mr.Gordon Jump who passed away 3 years ago from complications related to his diabetes.

He & Maytag severed their relationship last year. We had received a notice to remove all references to him in any advertising & remove all pictures if we used them. Ironically, Maytag services still has his picture on their vans. I don't know what's up with that. As far as "hunky," maybe if he was a she and 20-30 yrs old, then we may have something.

His name is Mark Devine and he lives in Southern California, as far as I knew when a new Maytag Store opened approx 4-years ago in Rocklin, CA not far from this new R.C. Wiley Store.

I missed getting to meet Gordon and Mark by 1-week. I got my Grand-Opening Invitation the following Week. I do have a Pix of them, but unfortunately it isn't Signed by Gordon and Mark...

You'll Enjoy RC Wiley

Trust me, you'll enjoy RC Wiley.
There are two of the stores in the Las Vegas area, and both are great. I bought my range and over-the-counter microwave from them; almost bought my fridge from them but they couldn't (and wouldn't) take my old fridge out so I had to buy from Lowes. Still, they make up for their slightly higher prices with generally good service. I'm shopping for a new couch right now.

We just purchased a new GE dishwasher from R C Willey here in Boise after a bad seal caused our Whirlpool to become majorly incontinent, and wet all over it's critical parts. The new machine had some dings on the edge of the door, so they chopped 200 bucks off the price. Dings are now fixed, and the dishwasher operates acceptably and holds the large and odd-shaped cookware that we use. Hell, even the whole cooking surface of our electric George Foreman outdoor grill fits, along with the dome. While it could use a more agressive spray, it is super quiet and difficult to even hear if it is running unless one gets up close.
