Help Support :

BTW,

I forgot to mention what a gorgeous restoration job you did, AWESOME!  I have to agree with Kelly, I too could use a makeover.  Ever think about opening an AW.org member spa? LMAO

P.S., I'm a 1969 model myself.

Very, very nice Rick! The set looks fantastic, as well as your classics in the garage. You already know how I feel about your Olds...

Did you use the gas assembly/igniter and control from a Big Load dryer? This would be a fantastic conversion to ponder in the future.

Ben

Hey Ben! I don't know what the parts are out of, but the gas valve fit the original bracket, so maybe it is from a newer Maytag dryer. The parts came from the used parts stash at my favourite appliance parts store here in Fort Wayne. The igniter and sensor are new, of course. Valve, orifice, and burner were used parts out of the "stash pile".

Converting to Propane

Hey Rick

Any suggestions on converting my DG750 from natural gas to propane - is the proper orifice available?

Thanks

Paula

THAT TASTY CADILLAC IS MY FAVORITE BODY STYLE :)

Awesome Job on the set. No an avocado fan, but they do
look beautiful.

Any chance you can explain how to change out a standing
pilot for an electronic ignition? I will most likely
want to do that to my earlier Maytag Gas Dryer. Especially
since I got it with the burner disassembled and I don't
know, a this point, how it should go together.

Thanks for sharing Rick.

Changing a MT HOH Gas Dryer To Electric Ignation

Hi Louis, I did this with by using a Valve assembly from a newer [ after 1976 MT Gas Dryer ], it involves making a few clever adaptions and should be tested for safety and proper operation. I also would add a few safety thermal fuses to any older dryer I was going to put into everyday service.

Oh, sorry, I did this restoration over three years ago, and did not know this thread was back up on the board. I used a newer Maytag gas valve, and I don't remember what model it was from.(if I ever knew) I bought the used valve from my appliance parts place. I do know that the modification worked out fine, and this avocado 806 set is still in daily use by my aunt and uncle. I was just at their home Sunday afternoon for a visit with them and cousins. They have had no problems and love them! Check with your local appliance parts/service store, they should be able to help you with this project.
