The New LG TrueSteam is here!

After much deliberation, i decided to go for a new LG TrueSteam 9kg washing machine. And boy am i glad i did! The main issues i had with my old Indesit were noise (we have open-plan living) and poor capacity/wash results and SEVERE creasing.

Since the LG arrived on Saturday i've only had a chance to use a couple of the cycles...Cottons 60c and Dark Wash 40c and Refresh, i'm about to try a duvet wash on a...well, a duvet no less.

The wash results are outstanding, as is the rinse performance and the spin...WOW. The Indesit span at 1600rpm and our stuff, especially jeans and bulky items, would take a couple of days to dry on the airer, the LG spins at 1400rpm and most of the washing comes out dry, a few hours on the airer and it's good to go!

As for the steam technology, i've used the Refresh cycle to get the creases out of some shirts and it worked really well, i like the steam sections in the wash cycle but as yet i've not had anything dirty enough to really out it to the test.

So i've just started a duvet wash....

Duvet wash selected, 40c, i started the wash and realised i'd forgotten to add steam so paused, selected steam, and continued the cycle...

It would only allow a maximum of 1000rpm spin, once the cycle is complete i'll run it through a 1400rpm spin to get the last bits of moisture out to help the drying.....

Hope you're getting on well with the LG F1479FDS5. As you can see from my picture I have the exact same washing machine, its 9 months old now! The only difference being mine doesn't have smart diagnosis as it was only introduced a few months ago. However, I hope that feature won't be needed anytime in the near future!

Its an amazing washing machine, and we sure have put it to some tests with muddy football kits, to stained bright whites, to duvets. Everything comes out spotless, the steam wash really gives a boost on stained clothes, we do use it quite a bit tbh.

I've tried majority of the cycles but mainly use cottons 40oc and 60oc as the daily cycle. The spin performance as you've said is really good, surely helps with lots of washing to get done.

I've recommended LG to you both without hesitation and I'm pretty sure you see why.

Pete. I'm sure your noticing the difference in your open plan living after the growly indesit motor

You'll notice how damn heavy the thing is it's well put together. The jet on it is excellent which really helps with the wash and rinse. Getting steam involved makes for an outstanding performance!!

I miss mine alot but the hotpoint is serving me well at present. Maybe when I've moved I may consider saving for a new one!!

Duvet wash...

The duvet wash went well, it finished around 10 last night and by this morning the duvet was perfectly dry. It seemed to struggle with the spins though, it would drain and tumble and then the pump would cut out, the machine would start to tumble and not even get a full turn in before the pump kicked in again and the tumbling would stop...it did that quite a few times. Not sure if it's a purposeful action or if it was just struggling to keep up with the water coming out of the duvet...

I'm now running it on a 95c wash on some old bedding i need for the spare room which has been buried in a cupboard for the best part of a year

The cutting out of the drain pump is normal, it has a sensor and ata certain point cuts out and as the clothes/duvet distributes tumbles and releases water it drains it and so on.

Its more apparent on heavy/unbalanced loads. Majority of the time the machine handles the loads very well, never had problmes with unbalanced loads.

I would much prefer to wash a Duvet at 60C, even with steam, they should have picked this up, duvets can stand 60C. Its very un-hygienic washing at 40C.
Thats the thing that puts me off these, they are made in China (or where-ever they are invented/made), and in China (or where-ever) they don't care about Hygiene, its pretty obvious. Even Bosch machines in Germany allow a down filled ski jackets wash at 60C, even though the maximum I have seen a label on one of them say is 30C, so why LG don't have a 60C setting when some duvets have 60C on the label, is beyond me.
Other than that nice machine, looks very modern, but is the door easily to view in being black??
I hope it lasts you much longer than the top load US LG models.

Xenophobia

Mat - I've now seen a couple of posts from you which seem to be deliberately idiotic or provocative to the point of xenophobia. It's unpleasant, and I find the way you write about the Chinese in this post to be mildly offensive to me - let alone what it'd be like to someone from the country and proud of it.

First, LG are a Korean company. A little googling would have told you that fact if you didn't know already.

Second, what data are you using to state blindly that the Chinese do not care about hygiene? Nothing that has been mentioned in this thread, that's for sure. You seem to be making an assumption, based on some prejudice or other, I don't know what.

Third, washing at 40C is not unhygienic. Washing at 60C *may* kill more bacteria/dust mites etc., but the difference is not as great as you make it out to be.

Fourth, the washing machine clearly has a 60C cycle. Sure, it's not specific to duvets, but that doesn't stop you using it should you so desire. Do you know that the LG duvet cycle doesn't go to 60C?

My tip: try and read what you've written before you hit the post button. Make sure it's not based on wild conjecture or offensive.
