Hey Guys
Yes we needed more vintage electronics like a hole in the head but when this appeared Matt and I wanted it- it was collection only in our town as well which was surely a sign :-).
I know its unlikely to be fully functional, but it was well under my max bid so it leaves enough to have it restored if it needs it- imagine the good stuff that could be on those tapes :-).

And its older brother...

This is the 1st domestic VCR to be marketed in the UK, it was released in the same year as I was born (1973). To say it was expensive would be an understatement!! it cost around £400 to buy and each 1 hour long cassette was £20 odd. To put that into perspective the machine was about 10% of the cost of a normal 2-3 bedroom house at the time!!.
The college I went to still had one of these in 1990 never saw it being used tho:( note the analogue clock!!

Thanks for posting this...I actually have one of these tape cartridges I picked up at a boot sale in Europe when I was a kid (no machine in site, however). I distinctly remember that SL of M episode and have a VHS copy of it somewhere. Home recording never took off 'big' until Beta on this side of the pond. -Cory
