Petticoat Legs, but Pants is much better ~
Many, Many thanks to you Bill for the email in the Spring about a similar early Visimatic in Ohio via HiBid. Didn't get the message till way too late, but last Saturday night, on crazy impulse, I opened Buffalo Craigslist which is something I seldom-to-never do, and unbelievably there was an estate sale ending Saturday with an early Visimatic for sale.
I scooted my butt out Sunday noon and got it for forty bucks. At the estate's garage where it was displayed, I snuck a plug in when no one was lookin' and the Old Lady Kenmore fired right up as these ancient machines so often do. Agitator and wringer worked, timer clicked off convincingly and the bell rang clear, but no sound from the pump. Drat that, but hey........
Once home, was able to free up the pump without taking it apart--how sweet it is, but the poor old gal leaked like a sieve, just gushing and pouring out from who knows where. In light of a bright Sunday morning, using the sense of touch, I felt a long slit, maybe an inch and a half or more, along the tub-to pump hose.
Very eager for a quick fix, I ran to Auto-zone and they introduced me to Permaflex tape. Wrapping it nice and tight and overlapping as per the directions, I held my breath and shut my eyes as the Lady filled, and HOLY CRAP, that stuff works. Unbelievable. The gushing turned bone dry. Halleluia!
So Bill, I think someone once said petticoat, but I really like Pants on the Lady. After all, Lady Kenmores can wear pants, too! Why the frig not?
Pix in a moment of my Lady in pants.
