I am going thru some video tapes of Madalyn O'hair's American Atheist Forum and her guest is Jonathan Alegro and he's an anthropologist. He said all religions started because of psychdelic plant consumtion. He said that in the garden of eden that tree of knowledge was a psych plant take if consumed would make you think that you were communing with gods,whathaveyou. I need to do a search on Half.com and buy it. That site has everything!!!!.....Bill in Az......

An interesting proposition and not at all implausible.

I often wonder where all the Madalyn O'Hairs have gone? Once upon a time we had lots of people who were constantly challenging/questioning commonly held ideas and beliefs. Their discourse was delightful, irreverent and often pleasantly uncomfortable. These days people seem loath to concern themselves with anything that requires their prolonged attention and critique. More people are getting 'educated', but fewer seem capable of complex and critical thinking. To me it appears that our universities have turned into giant mushroom farms.

Yes, I am feeling cynical today.
