A big chunk of plastic fell off the top of the door one day??? I opened it and pop, off it fell, It has never been hit with anything as far as I know, I take better care of stuff than to do that!

But Mainly!!

Anything that runs an hour and a half ought to clean better, Its ok, but certainly not like the old KDS 17 I had in Lenoir years ago, 40 min and it would blast off baked on stuff off of casseroles!!This thing will barely clean dishes!!

Reverse Rack Maytags

Those reverse rack Maytags were some of the coolest and best cleaning machines I have ever seen. My first boyfriend had a beautiful reverse rack Maytag - all push button electro-mechanical control. I have never seen another one like it. And it would clean anything you put in it.

I should have married him - just to keep that dishwasher

What are you expecting from John? He is no apologist for the tall tub machines. They built taller tubs so the water had to shoot farther then put in a shallow sump so there is not adequate water depth to feed a powerful pump. Then they used tiny pumps that clog at the bat of an eye. He has tried them in his kitchen and removed them in favor of real dishsmashers. You have to wonder what the hell the designers were thinking. His first TOL KA tall tub had some sort of a mesh bag in the lower rack for little things. It looked like a hair net. After running a load of dirty dishes, it caught so many food particles it looked like a crocheted air sickness bag.

When I first saw the spot on the door, I thought something had taken a bite out of the machine.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST DWs IN THE PAST 15 YEARS

Hans you have abused this machine, you have put the dishes in too clean and or used too much detergent and if it its running over an hour you are also using to long a cycle for the soil level of the dishes. I would kill to get 50 more of these machines, this is not a tall tub model.

Im Not!

Throwing off on ALL Whirlpools, just this one!!! The older ones were good, I know of an apt complex built in the early 70s that still has a few of the original WP DWs and they work great...This Was NOT a very expensive model to start with, I bought what I could afford at the time, and I chose Whirlpool for the rack in the door...and while it is convienient, if you load it up your silverware will be covered with bits of food!!

There is something way wrong with that machine. That is a Whirlpool Power clean and mine would take a whole three layer cake and all and be nothing left of the cake or any food I put in it which was a lot..Now a Kitchenaid a old one is my favorite by far and your right it is not a K-aid which I  would love to have , compared to the dishwasher I am using now..The only dishwasher you can buy now that has a bigger motor than that is a Viking which has a 1/2 H.P. Vs 1/3 H.P. for that Whirlpool but Vikings don't rate well for some reason even with a big motor in it like the Kitchenaids....
