Tom, another reason might be that these were built by Inglis vs Whirlpool. Inglis was still a separate company at the time these were built and as such were manufactured in their own plant - they just licensed the designs from Whirlpool. Usually Inglis built machines (including Canadian Kenmore as well) had different cosmetics, used older parts, had different features etc
