Austin said that the Frankenmore must be happy in it's new home. I seem to think it is. Here is the classic Kenmore shift into spin, just as you remember it from when you were a kid.

Let's place a wager on this!

I am betting ol Frankie will outlast the Oasis!
Anyone wanna place a bet? I still have some money left! LOL

Jason, glad to see you are enjoying the new member of your family. Looking forward seeing more vids of the wash-in.
You better implement the chipmunks in there somewhere!

Say hello to Helen!

Being an appliance afficionado since I was a kid, one of the things that has always stuck with me is the buzz, click, snap, and whirr of a WP/KM shifting from neutral drain to spin. The control magnet (solenoid) plunger is energized(buzz) and pulls upward(click). The wig-wag brings the plunger to the cam slot where it snaps into place and draws back on the cam arm, engaging the spin clutch and releasing the tub brake. The clutch makes a whirring sound while it slips until the pulley catches up with the clutch plate. All this probably takes a second or less, but still is one of the most unique mechanical sounds I remember, even as a 6-year old.

And getting a "grind click clunk" is kind of a random thing. If the plunger is right in the slot to snap over to spin, you'll just hear "click-snap-zzzzz". If it's not right there, then you get "Grrrrrind".

And yes, that is the famous Kenmore sound that I've wait 20+ years to hear again, a sound that I thought was long lost with my childhood.

Roto-Swirl and YouTube.com

I have not seen one of these run in a very long time. Thanks for posting jasonL. And thank goodness for youTube.com.

Oasis

Nope. It does a short 5 second spray with the clothes turning slowly before kicking into spin. Kinda sad it doesn't do it. But it does rinse and spin well.

The BD Kenmore isn't famous for spinning and rinsing but using TideHE seems to work just fine.

I remember too!

My grandmother had a 1977 Whirlpool set, I remember the "shift" in to spin sounds it made, and also the huge "clunk" it made when it started to agitate. I always thought that was such a cool machine, and so much more "machine like" sounding than the A-702 Maytag mom had at the time(Grandma got her Whirlpools in April of 1977, mom got her new Maytag A608 set in September of that year)
I also remember the Whirlpool had a very musical kind of warble sound to it when it agitated.

Thank's

Oh Jason thank you, when I was young I would fall asleep to the sound of my grandmother's Kenmore. Will play this if I can't sleep.

Oasis

Actually, if you select the 2nd Rinse option on the Oasis, It will include a through spray rinse after the wash phase. It will spray with water for about 10-20 seconds depending on the size of the load, and then spins the soaked clothes. This process is repeated 3-4 times, then the washer will proceed to dispensing the FS and filling for the deep rinse.

my 1978 BD Whirlpool sounds

How come instead of going grrrrind, click, clunk like it is supposed to do, my 1978 BD Whirlpool washer kicks into agitate, it goes grrrrind, click, clunk-CLACK, and during the CLACK part, it clacks so hard, it shakes the drain standpipe? What is causing this problem with this classic appliance of mine?
