So I finally entered the 21st century and bought a digital camera! Thought I would try it out with photos of my daily drivers. I have more photos and will try to figure out how to get them into my profile on this site. Will be posting more pics of my entire collection soon!

Very nice!!!

That's a beautiful pair you have. Although I'll admit, when I saw the title "The Supremes" I had my hopes all up for seeing Diana, Mary and Flo lol.

Todd, they're absolutely beautiful. Are these like 1964 or 1963? Looks like you have one where the agitation shifts to gentle at the 6 minute mark on the W'n'W cycle. You did a great job with the photos. Have you taken one with the panels all lit up?

Beautiful Beautiful set !!!
Looks to be in mint condition.
How about some pics with all the console light on ?

Wow those take your breath away!!! As Bob mentioned a night shot with those consoles on would be awesome. Gas or Electric dryer? Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Yes Todd, those are AWESOME! SOOOOO pretty!

Congrats on making the jump into the 21st century with the digital camera! LOL

And yes I want to "3rd" that... you NEED a shot with the lights on (and the camera flash off)! Maybe you can even get daring and try turning off the room light for that shot!

Terry, I belive these are old enough that if the dryer was gas, it would have the blue flame insignia on the dryer somewhere!!

Todd -

Those machines are truly stunning. That close-up shot of the two consoles makes them look like a 'couple' with faces affectionately close together.

VERY nice indeed, and even neater that you're using them!

Looks like the same model Supreme 80 that I got last summer for Jeff/Washoholic ... which is an LPA, 1966 model-year.

Thanks again Glenn, and by the way it’s running like a champ

Todd, your pair looks great. What are the fabric settings on the dryer, what does the small control on the right do and when does the little red light glow?

I had a similar dryer and you’ve got to love the start switch that’s build into the door (Just close the door to start).

What are the fabric settings on the dryer

Jeff, I think I can answer your questions

Fabric settings are air, delicate, w'n'w, regular, heavy. The little knob on the right is for the sped control--gentle or heavy tumbling speed. the little red light glows, I do believe, when the setting for tubling is on gentle.

Bob, not positive, but I think the dryer's red light is for Super speed. And remember, these older models don't change the tumble speed between Super & Gentle ... only the airflow and heat input rates.

Also, I don't believe they have lighted consoles. IIRC, Jeff added the light to his.

BEAUTIFUL WP WASHER DRYER PAIR

This one is electric you can tell by the lack of a removable lower panel on the dryer front. By this time WP had quite putting the blue flame insignia or thunderbolt on the machines to indicate the heating fuel source. Interestingly many gas models had windows but the electric versions did not, WP continued windows on some models through the 1974 dryers. On this dryer the super speed control changed the heat input from 5600 watts to 4600 on gentle it also reduced the blower speed on gentle Unfortunately until WP changed to thier newer style dryers in 1966 with the stationary rear drum bulkhead none of these early dryers were very efficient in thier use of heat, some of the heated air would just go across the rear of the drum directly into the exhaust blower and be lost. I figure that these earlier style dryers use about 25% more gas or electricity than the later machines. They were still fun machines with a lot of style and features and good durability for the time.

These are vintage 1966 and I have the owner's manuals, too! For some reason, there are no lights behind the console (in my excitement when I got them home, that was the first thing I looked for). Dryer is electric and the 2-speed belt broke recently but jury-rigged it to work on "super" speed only. WnW cycle on washer does shift to the slower speed near the end of the cycle. They both run beautifully and I will try to master the video function of my new camera soon!

dryer controls

Correct. The red light goes on when the dryer is in "super" cycle. My dryer does change speeds but heat flow is controlled separately. Right now it only operates in "super" because I can't find a suitable replacement belt for it to change to the (slower) "gentle" speed.

the control panels

are absolutely stunning and super clean!
That's a really nice pair of WPs - thanks for the pics!

OMG!!

I have to step out to get some air... I feel faint...
That is a simply stunning Whirlpool set. What a classy 'daily driver'! Thank you for sharing the pictures with us!
