Ross, the pictures are great. Thanks. The Thor is a fine machine and I hope it will give you years of pleasure. Now if we could find the dishwasher tub for it!!!

You're sure lucky to have Dr. Manny. I can't wait to meet him. Looking forward to seeing you and the Thor in person soon.

But which one is the Holy Ghost?

Congrats Ross!

Yet another reason to fly back to Tucson. (*hands on hips*) Between all the nice Arizon-ians I have met, and your fabulous collections, I may have to relocate there!

What a perfect dream-machine glad you found it, have it and repaired it. Enjoy it! Can't wait to see it.

For all of you, my unsolicited advice, NEVER miss a Tucson, AZ triple-play wash-in! The holy trinity make it fabulous!

Wow Ross it’s just beautiful! Congratulations. Great pictures by the way and I love the fact that you can see the water spinning out of the holes near the top of the wash tub.

Ross, Congratulations on acquiring one of your dream machines. I have not seen one work since I four and a half years old.

A friend who grew up in New York told me that his mother got a THOR and had it in the kitchen. His grandmother saw it and went out and bought a folding screen to hide it so that it would not look like his mother was taking in laundry.

Best wishes for decades of fun with this latest treasure and all of your machines.
Tom

Ross I am so happy that the Thor is finally home where she belongs. It looks beautiful and I can't wait to see it. We'll talk soon. Terry

I believe when RCA released the '45', they origionally were going to put records on colored vinyl so you could ID what catagory they were, much like the color coded record labels of the day. TYhat died off fast.

(always liked the red ones for whatever reason)

Actually, I think the first year or so weren't vinyl, but something else.

Ledgend has it that the big hole was strictly to make it not compatible with existing stuff. Until someone invented the adaptor :)

(has boxes of the metal ones)

Congrats on the Thor. Love that inlet spout!

Off topic... Part of [David] Sarnoff's business stratergy at RCA was to create proprietary systems, shove them down the everyones throat as the defacto standard, and subsequently license them back to all of the other manufacturers.

Neat machine. What year is it? BTW, I had a yellow 45 of teeny weeny bikini too! How many of us had the actual bikini? :0

On day at the library, looking as far back as iIcould in old CU/CR magazines, I stumbled upon the Thor. It was love at first sight. The ultimate dream machine for me. Can't believe how young and new the speckled light blue tub looks. Wish I could see the agitation without soap or clothes in the way. CU rated it best in washing ability. So glad you have it. You must be ecstatic. Whats the pump like, the speed and the sound. How I'd love to see that machine. Of all the fabulous machines I've seen here, Your Thor is the one I want the most. Good for you, Buddy.

Great machine Ross! And Manny got the restoration just flawless! Never saw one of those machines before. Thank you for sharing.

Thor Automagic...

Hi Guys...Ross..that renovated Thor looks in great condition..and Dr Manny has done a fab job !! By looking at the machine the only difference between the UK machine and the US machine is the positioning of the water spout and the control tower, was quite a bit higher..I see Brett has re-posted my video that i shot a few years ago of the Automagic i have. Anyone who has watched this video, please excuse the slightly weird noise i make after the water has been spun from the tub, as at this point you are ment to have the lid on, and i got absolutely soaked !!..In the UK there was another model (1958) after the one i have which had 3 pedals at the base to control the wash & spin ( see att pic) by this time the dishwashing facility had been discarded.

Have fun with your new washer !!
Keith (UK)
