The Tide CW commercial

Have you noticed the new Tide cw commercial, something about we could save so much energy we could light up several towns. I appreciate the corporate responsibility and sentiment. Wonder if they plan to mail ALL of us a free trial size? You know like the one you get in a new washer nowdays. Remember when you used to get a new machine and there WAS a Whole box inside? Guess I am just nostalgic today. alr2903

CW = Cold Water

For a minute, I thought it might have stood for Coronado Washers ;-)

The corporate responsibilty hasn't changed, they only answer to the stockholders and that bottom line. I've heard good things about the cold water formula, but am still not convinced I want my clothes moving around sluggishly in 36F water...

It was a single load sample of Tide HE that came in my Duet and once I tried it, I couldn't get to the store fast enough for more.

I hardly wash anything with cold water, but i sure wouldn't buy laundry soap just for this purpose

I used Tide CW on a load of jeans an hour ago. But I cheated with a warm EcoActive wash (115°F) followed by a cold (between 65°F and 70°F, I estimate) deep wash.

I used some TCW liquid to test an old washer with a cold water only connection (garden hose in the courtyard) and it seemed to wash well enough. I just don't like washing in cold water as a rule, either.

Couldn't find the TCW powder when I was looking.

I sent for a free sample of Tide CW when it first came out. I was impressed and bought the powdered version, which seemed to do a better job.

I washed in temp-controlled cold water (whites included) exclusively for almost 6 months. When combined with liquid chlorine bleach, Tide CW did an excellent job on my kitchen whites. In fact, some stains which tended to be 'set' using hot water came out much better in cold.

But then I started to get into the Mexican detergents and now the spectacular SA8, so Tide CW is no longer my daily driver.

I bought up the last 4 big boxes of it from WalMart a few months ago. I'm not finding the powder anywhere, anymore. And the liquid version isn't as good, so I'm not interested. And since I'm not using the CW all the time these days, my stash should last a long, long time.

One nice side effect of using cold water was that most fabrics---again, especially my oft-laundered kitchen flour sack towels, etc., seemed to last longer. Colored shirts, etc., did too.
