Well, that didn't last long... My beloved Unimatic has developed at tapping noise, only on agitation, and in tune the wash action. I can't find anything loose on the Pulsator so I'm horified that it's the transmission... It's a very light tapping noise and it comes and goes every couple minutes, but it still has me worried! Any ideas? Should I cease use immediately and call a doctor? ;)

I really can't pin point it exactly, it sounds like it's coming from somewhere around the base the the agitator, at first I thought the a button from some clothing article was simply tapping against the agitator base until I did a load of towels and heard the tapping still...

Take the tub out. Then you will be able to tell if the noise is actually coming from the transmission.

Agitate the machine empty then listen for the sound both above in the tub and bend down and listen to the machine from below to try and pinpoint.

Try it with a full tub of water and no clothes, and then a regular size load. If I overload a black pulsator Unimatic with too many towels, a towel can get under the pulsator and cause the mechanism to make a thumping sound.

It would also be caused by a tub bolt coming loose---But of course this has NEVER EVER happened to her highness the tubmaster!

Ummm, its called the tub mounting nut Jon not tub bolt.

And is true, my nuts are locked down pretty tight :-)

Sounds kinky, can I see? ;-)

I know what you guys mean about annoying noises. There's something loose on my Frigidaire dryer, I think it's the vent cover in the back.

**AHEM** :)

Soooo, I took out the Pulsator and tried again and I couldn't hear anything, upon reinstalling the Pulsator, I discovered that it was indeed somewhat loose when I took it out. I put it back and now it's nice and tight and the tapping seems to have ceased! (For now at least!) Now I just gotta replace the seal around the top as it's leaking pretty badly and I gotta get the damn thing LEVELED so she won't dance around the laundryroom!

Nice going Jamie! Have you tried turning the machine on its side and checking out the feet? My advice would be to spray these with WD-40 or another similar lubricant and wait overnight, spray again, and then try to loosen them. Otherwise they might break off. Keep us updated on the leveling issue.

Speaking of kinky

"Is is only me, or is there something sensual about watching a Frigidaire pulsater at work?"

Yes, I think there is something sensual about watching the Frigidaire. I guess I'm just an on perv.
