hey everyone. im so happy. im going to get the whirlpool front loader. thats if i win lol. iv'e never seen one with a 1300 rpm spin thought so that will be interesting to see. videos will come almost as soon as i get it. but it has staining in the gasket. does anyone know how to get it off?

Whirlpool Aqualine 1300

Hi Josh,
I hope you win it; they are reliable well made machines built on the Philips Series 90 platform and great wash performance too. The Aqualine 1300 was the TOL model in the UK, my aunt has one and loves it.
You should be able to clean the gasket with some thick Chlorine bleach used neat on the gasket. Apply a thin coating of the bleach with an old synthetic sponge, leave it for 10 minutes or so and then wipe it off with a damp cloth, rinsing the cloth and re wiping the gasket till all the bleach has been removed. As long as the gasket is in good condition the bleach will not damage it but if the gasket is sticky or less than perfect don't use the bleach.

Staining in fl door seal is usually mould growth caused by washing in cold water and not airing the machine afterwards. I have never been able to sucessfully clean off the stain.

If/when you get the machine, you can scrub the door gasket with someting strong to kill the mould and you will possibly find some disgusting slime too, in the folds of the gasket. Clean it up till you are satisfied it is hygienic but it will stay ugly, the black stains won't come out.

Aussies nearly always wash in cold water so I often see similar stains in front loaders. I am hoping to pick up a Whirlpool front loader from a roadside in Melbourne, I passed it two days ago and was in a serious hurry so couldn't stop, heading back tomorrow with fingers crossed it might still be there. Wish me luck, I'll wish you luck.

Wash at least 40 degrees C at least weekly, and leave the door partly open when you aren't using it so the seal dries out.

This was a top quality range of machines - my parents had the Aqualine 1000 rpm and it was used almost everyday for 13 years before it gave up. Good luck!

Another thought

Many a time I had this problem with my old Maytag Neptune,One thing that worked like a charm for me was Cascade dishwasher detergent, or you could probibly get some Finish in the land of OZ., that is also very good for that. Just run a boil wash and that has helped, it may not get rid of all of it, most of it. The bleach is also another good way. Happy bidding! You will love it!

and loved it to bits!!!!!
Quiet. loads of water fro rinses and the cleaning was out of this world... Saying that, I loved the Phillips models prior to Whirlpool taking over. Pity the machines went downhill from there!

hey everyone thanks for youe posts.yeah iv'e seen alot of my friends mums use there front loaders at 30 and 40 degrees for years and i can definatly say there washers are so not clean lol. i dont mean to show off or anything lol. but yeah i do have some more sense as to whats goin on with ym washer unlike these mums and i use 40c for synthetics, at least 60 for sheets and 70 ish for towles. i hardly ever wash in cold or warm water lol.

Programmes:

1- Longest Cotton Wash with Prewash - temp upto 95c, max spin as standard.

2-Longest Cotton Wash without Prewash - temp upto 95c, max spin as standard.

3-Normal Cotton programme ideal for whites etc - temp upto 60c, max spin as standard.

4-I believe this to be a coloured synthetics programme on the UK whirlpools? Not too sure on this one, given that the max spin speed is 4 ovn the variable spin dial for this programme i'd say its for synthetics.

5- Standard Cotton Cycle for Darks and such - Jeans, heavy hoodies etc - temp upto 40c, mac spin as standard.

A- Is the final rinse and C is the final spin that follows the programmes 1-5.

6- Synthetics with Prewash - Temp upto 40c, max speed is restricted to 3 on the Spin speed dial.

7- Synthetics without Prewash - Temp upto 40c, max speed is restricted to 3 on the Spin speed dial.

8- Synthetics without prewash - Temp upto 30c, max speed is restricted to 3 on the Spin speed dial. If Rapid button is pressed this becomes the formal "Quickwash" cycle.

B- Is the Final Rinse and D is the final spin that follows programmes 6-8.

9- Woolens cycle - temp upto 40c, spin upto 3 on Spin Speed Dial. If I remember correctly The woolens cycles on these machines ends with an automatic rinse hold or just a drain. You must select programmes C or D for a final spin on this cycle. Remember to turn down the spin speed dial for spinning woolens and delicates.

I hope this guide is of use to you! My aunt had a machine rather similar and these are the programmes that were on hers I think!

No, IIRC that corresponds with the numbers on the dial for the spinspeed. My Philips toploader uses the same system.

Spin Speed Dial-

The Spin Speed Dial will have a Wash tub sign on it with a water straight water line, indictating drain only, with no spin, thereafter the dial has 1, 2, 3, 4, and MAX printed on it, these just correspond to lower spin speeds available on the machine. Not sure what speeds 1,2,3&4 actually are but they will be slower than the 1300 max, your machine will do when the dial is set to MAX. If you get a manual with the machine or if you find one online it may tell you what the speeds are for the different number!

Correction! The Tub sign on the spin dial is a rinse hold feature, not a drain cycle! I just read the manual for your machine, not all that detailed but it gives you a fair understanding of its workings etc!

Apparently synthetics cycles rinse with water halfway up the door and woolen cycles wash and risne with water half up the door! The manual actually states this!
