Hello Boys and Girls <br
As I am a joiner and not a fighter I decided to officially join this site after lurking for awhile. Since the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors' Club site will soon be very similar to this one I thought it would be good to get used to this format. It's really a wonderful, excellently crafted site and I do look forward to getting our own at VACCC.CO <br
Contrary to what you have think - or have heard - I am really a pretty nice guy. Loud mouthed and opinionated to be sure ... but at least people always know where the stand with me instead of trying to sort through a lot of B.S. and two-facedness. What you see is what you get <br
Anywaaaaaaaaaay....... who knows, I may soon become the Queen of Faggety Chatter! hahah <br
For now, back to my cleaning chores - today with a lovely all-original Kirby 513 that just arrived this morning. (see piccie attached <br
Taa-taaa for now!

Hey Charlie and welcome to the club. What is that special character between maggie and hamilton? When people set up users names I scan the name for special characters to prevent them from being used, but I've never seen a large dot like that before, hence I need to add that dot character to the routine. Anyway, that dot in your user name is preventing your post picture from showing up. Can you sign up again under Maggie_Hamilton or MaggieHamilton, thanks.

Welcome!!!

Hi Charli <br
Welcome to the club from this side of the pond, the 513 sound interesting, does it have the first style handle? <br
Its good to get a history in detail of all the kirbys etc.. <br
Have had a vac day myself, just been using my "Sweeper Vac" with my new converter/inverter, new motor brushes and away we go. <br
I need a new/old furniture guard for it, if you know where I might obtain one please let me know, i wondered if an old Royal might be suitable <br
Chheers, Mike

Charlie!!!!

Welcome Charlie! You will really like this site! Did you see my post in the other site? All the thrift stores are either closing or downsizing with little or no vacuums at all! It is a sad time for thrift stores right now <br <br <br
BTW Hi Robert! Charmed i'm sure :)

Special Characters

Hello, sorry if I goofed up already. The space between Maggie and Hamilton is option/8 on the Mac keyboard - a solid bullet in some fonts and a hollow one in others <br
I see all my profile info has vanished after laborously typing it all in ....... do I have to type all that stuff all over again?? I thought this forum was easier to use? <br
Thx

Hi Charlie, I see both profiles you set up. Maggie•Hamilton and Maggie~Hamilton. Try logging out then relog in as maggie~hamilton, the user name that you set up first. The ~ character should be ok to use. Let me know how this works.

"FAGGETY CHATTER" is a term of endearment, not a slam! A friend (also gay) coined it after hearing a room-full of merry fairies having, well, FAGGETY CHATTER, at a party.

Re my username, I did originally set up "Maggie~Hamilton" but the software changed it to "Maggie~hamilton" ... lower-case "h" and I did not like that as it is gramatically incorrect.

So I killed that username per site instructions and tried to re-join with the same name, was told "name already in use, please choose another." grrr ....

So for the 2nd try I did "Maggie•Hamilton" and BLEEPETY-BLEEP, the @#%# @#%@#$! name STILL came up with a lower-case h ... "Maggie•hamilton" ... So "what's a mutha to do???"

I also still wonder what happened to all my profile information that I soooooo laborioussssssly entered ....... it's all BLANK!!

Charlie:Cool!!Another pipe organ and Kirby fan!I too collect Kirby's and Royals,Am looking for the earlier Kirbys-esp the 511 model from 1951-the year I was born!My mother and dad bought a Kirby from a DTD salesman that was "doorknocking" that day and chose their house-they bought the machine-remember it over the years-my mom used the attachments all the time-the machine was used with the spray gun to spray varnish in a rec room he was refinishing-My mom was upset about that-and dad sent the machine to the Ohio Kirby headquarters for refurbishing-they made the machine like new-my folks lived in Ohio at that time.In later years the attachments got lost and it was used as a carpet cleaner only-did a fantastic job. Then the machine got lost in the Rapid city S.Dak flood of 1972.I have all of the Kirby "G" models-up to the latest-the Kirby Sentria.
I don't play the organ, but have many recordings of pipe organs and band organs-also have several books on the technical aspects of the pipe organ. The Atlantic City Convention hall organs especially fascinate me-listen to the recordings of them.also watch the DVD video of it from the Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ Society.I am sure hoping that the Convention Hall organs can be restored!!they are muscial treasures. One and onlys.
I would also like to get some big wheel Lewyts.Have a small collection of 'luxes.Nice machines.Durable motors.

Welcome Charlie

I really like your website. I have spent many hours reading the Lux history. You will like it here. There are many nice and knowledgeable people in here. Again, welcome.
Tim

Hi Charlie, YAY I'm glad to see your profile info is safe and sound on your side, I saw your profile information just fine yesterday so I was not quite sure what was missing.

By the way as for the letter case of your user name, if you log-out and log in as Maggie~Hamilton (using a uppercase M and uppercase H) I programmed the system to list your member name in your postings in the same case that you entered it as you logged-in. See how I made my user-name look all funny where it lists who posted this thread in the blue bar just above? Actually Louis (foraloysius) ask that I add that functionality back when we first went live with the system in 2001.

But anyway, welcome again and your new Kirby 513 is really cool! When is that from?

Hi Charles, So glad to have you with us. I think you will find this a fun place to be!! That sure is a nice Kirby 513. Mike, that Sweeper Vac is beautiful. Is that a new machine you have just gotten?
Once again, welcome Charles!! Terry

Welcome Charles!

So glad you finally actively joined us. You will find this a fun place. It's not only the way the site operates through the software; it's the fun and nice people here that make this site what it is. You will find yourself engaged in fun conversations that go in all kinds of different directions. One of the conventions to follow is to keep the conversations in the right discussion forum. Us vac folks always stay in the Super Forum, but it is one of the most interesting to me. The new site will be all about vacuums with the discussion forums split up as well. Your extensive knowledge (and stories) will be most welcome here and on the new site as well.

Do we engage in faggotty chatter? Indeed we do. I can't help myself. I came out in college with a group of young men my age, and that was about the only way we ever did talk with each other. Old habits die hard but I can act straight when the situation calls for it. Just to clear up the story of how I got my latest nickname Ida. Ida is Ida Corwin, Mildred Pierce's sharp-tongued and savvy sidekick who literally runs Mildred's restaurants and speaks her mind. Just kind of fit. She is shown down below waitng to be interrogated by the LAPD regarding the murder of Mildred's husband Monty. The officer grabs her arm and she grabs it back and says "Listen!! I bruise easy." And so it goes. Dang I love the styles.

Again, welcome and enjoy!

(You know who)

Can we kill the *faggety chatter* BS now???

Regardless if its endearment or a party or what, I found it insulting the first time I read it, and it has NOT grown on me.
Enough is enough...DROP IT!

Signed,
Agnes {who needs to go drink her coffee}

Just One More

Here is Ida straightening her stocking. I never figured out why she was standing on a stool while doing this, except, of course, so show off her shapely legs for the camera and to set the scene. Anyway she says to Wally Fay "Keep something on me, I might catch cold!!"

Welcome Miss Hamilton

ICYDK Margaret Hamilton is one of my heroes as well.

A grand and gracious lady, she was a neighbor in the city and would volunteer at my father's hospital directing plays for Veterans who were patients. I still have a letter I got from her in the seventies telling me about her accident on the set of "Oz" that I will post as soon as I can dig it out of the archives( I need to frame it). She was a class act.

You have very good taste!

Helen Lawson welcomes you!

Charles Richard,

Well welcome darling! I'd say something about chatter but Agnes Gooch would fly off the handle. And, we all know the only thing that comes out of a Helen Lawson show is HELEN LAWSON!

I love the Kirby and the web site for Maggie Hamilton. She is one of my favorite actresses and her character from Oz is the subject of much camp. I think we have talked about this on the phone in days gone by.

You will have fun here and welcome! Keep those pictures and text coming.

Now get out of my way 'cause I've got a man waitin' for me.....................
