You know how just when you think everything fine, something bad can happen?? Well, I am not sure what I did with that Westy dryer of mine, but....
I started out by sealing up the hot air conduit with some Reflectix insulation. Looks like the 'space age' version of the Westy dryer, doesn't it?? LOL

To protect the music box, I figured that more insulation would be better than less. I used new fiberglass insulation around the heater chamber access area. This had originally been covered with a sheet of asbestos-covered board, but this had been gnawed by mice...

And I put a piece of the Reflectix insulation on the back end of the music box, 'cause I am paranoid...

So, it looked fine, right? I figured now it would be a good chance to do an extended run to make sure the timer was operating correctly. About 10 minutes into the test, Hubby saw a spark from the back of the machine. No PHUT this time and he said it looked yellow, not blue. I shut the breaker off immediately and tried to figure WTF happened...
Well, I was and still am stumped. I checked the wiring, connections and even managed to peek into the heater chamber and I could not see anything glaringly obvious. The only thing I came up with was that the 'static wire' between the cabinet and the trunnion bearing for the drum was missing. I must have snapped in an earlier attempt to remove the drum; the manual I have said that this was necessary to prevent static shocks. This and the fact that 'one extreme to the other' humidity levels in the house were at their winter low (22 percent), is the only explanation I have for the spark that was produced.
Does this make sense?? If not, what else should I be looking for??
I am SOOO anxious to get this machine into use again....

Everything you've done there looks good, so I say throw some damp clothes in it, and let it run for 30min while you sit there and stare at it.

oh good god.. you had better watch it there mr..ha ha.. have never had one do that, well not yet anyway.. you would think if it were a true elec spark it would have left some sort of mark on the white surface.. hum.. the machine looks wonderful so give it another try
