very cool...what fun you guys must have had. Thanks for posting the pictures Jimmy. We had the same Hotpoint SS cooktop in our new 1958 suburban Pittsburgh house and a matching SS HP wall oven. The burners and knobs were color coded.

Hey Rich/Caroline Appleby, I took the photo of the Hotpoint cooktop because I too had a very similar one in my last house. Mine was from 1958 and also had the matching wall oven. It was known as a Hotpoint Customline, and was simply fabulous! It was in brushed stainless and I was so sad to leave it behind when I moved. I have a 1962 Frigidaire Flair in Turquoise now so that helps to make up for the glamour lost on the Hotpoint..........My Hotpoint was color coded too. Man I just loved that cooktop!!

BTW Trainguy and I didnt post the pics of all the NEW Maytag washers that were in this yard. There were dozens of them and it was so sad to see. Most of them were Neptunes and they far outnumbered any other new washer brand that was there. There were only a few of the newer GE design washers, not saying that they are any better. Maybe they just got crushed cause no one wants to buy them for scrap! The statistics and demographics of what is found in a salvage yard can be quite shocking and revealing about modern appliances. Even worse were all the new refrigerators that were in the yard marked "Mr. Scrap". Whirlpool and Kenmore seemed to be the dominate brand of refrigerators in the yard and overwhelmingly side by side models........again so very sad to see.............Perhaps Mr Scrap was just picking up things from a local Maytag dealer and they explains why so many were there, but again, it was quite shocking......

Just came across this

What a great find. Did they go back for more? Mr S. still in business?
