Thermador range advice

I just got this email from a friend of mine. Any thoughts from the collective wisdom here?

"Mark do u know anything about ranges? Our Thermador with dual fuel and downdraft vent needs the display panel rebuilt for about $500. A new one of comparable quality will be about $2,500. Our range is probably 20 years old. Fix it or replace?? Advise??"

TD Dual Fuel Range Repair

Fix it, but the actual cost to rebuild the board is only about $100, so I would find a more reasonable repair company to do the work or remove the board yourself, send it off for rebuilding and reinstall it. The estimate you got is maybe $100-200 to high.
