Thermador Range

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Never hooked up, yet basically new. By definition doesn't that make it new?

These are VERY pricey when new. Looks like a keeper!
Love the grille!

Even the speckled porcelain finish in the oven is fabulous, doesn't show every little stain.

The location of the controls is a grease-catcher, but unavoidable with one-piece range that has a gas cooktop.

Are parts still avaialbel for this brand?

GOOD LUCK!

The range IS in pristine condition....

However the guy who owns it "lost" the kick panel that covers the front area below the oven door. I checked around and found that the part is NLA.
Tough decision. Could one possibly have one fabricated? Other parts are available for the unit, but becoming hard to find.

I am a kitchen designer and sell appliances as well...this range looks like a drop in range. Am I right? If so, it may be designed to "drop in" to a base cabinet while the edges of the range rest on the edges of the countertop cut out. The cabinet that it drops into has a panel at the bottom that covers that "kick plate" on the front of the range. Some are designed this way and some drop in ranges have a panel of their own. Does that help?

It originally came with the kick panel, the guy who was going to install it took the front kick panel off as he was going to do a "drop in" installation. But the stove itself is actually free standng. I would actually need the kick panel. I think I could have one fabricated.
Another issue, it has a down draft ventilator in it. I have a overhead vent already installed. Would I be able to just not install the down draft venting and use the overhead vent instead?
I think this is a good deal, but rather nervous that this could turn into a disaster. What happens if we get it hooked up and it doesn't work?

The downdraft should have a motor/blower seperate from any other functions of the range. To not hook it up and use your own overhead ventilation should be ok. As for wondering if it actually works...that's the chance we take everytime we seek out one of these deals. I hope it works out for you. :)

Thanks for the great responses. I want to get this thing, the wife is really nervous and if it doesn't work, I know I will never hear the end of it. And never is a long, long time.
The blower motor is separate from the rest of the stove. This house we are in would require extensive kitchen modifications to put the blower up in the attic and run the vent up thru the ceiling to the roof. So we just wouldn't use that feature. We'd use the overhead vent that's already there instead.
Is Thermador considered a reliable brand? I can honestly say in my 30 years of home ownership (and I have owned a few!) I have never had a stove breakdown.

We Got It!

We went out to examine this range and found that the exterior was quite dusty/dirty from sitting around in a storage bin. Lots of greasy fingerprints all over it. But there weren't any chips or scratches in the paint finish. I think it'll clean up nicely and look new again. So we bought it.
We were able to buy the replacement handle for the griddle from RepairClinic.com for $12.95! Fantastic! It seems that Thermador made this particular model for several years.
Toggle, you were absolutely right about the interior of that oven. That finish sure is slick and it seems that there is more white and light gray in the spackle finish inside. It certainly won't show any dirt at all.
Bingwsguy, I read the owners manual and found out that this can be used as either a drop in on its own little stand, or with a finish kit to make it a slide in. Since the finish kit is NLA, what do most people do with the gap between the bottom of the oven door and the floor? There is about 10" of depth in there.

Whirlcool, first congrats on getting it! :) As for the bottom panel cover...will the range be placed between 2 cabinets? If so, make or order a piece of paneling to match your cabinets that will fit right in that spot on the range. It will make it look like it is sitting in it's own base cabinet. Again congrats...they are very well made, I know people with Thermador ranges/ovens that have had them for 30+ years!
