Besides leaf springs from older cars--knife smiths have made knives from logging harvester bars(Very large chainsaws used on logging fellers mounted on excavators)When the bars wear out-they can be made into knives.Other things made into knives-planer knives-those blades made from high grade steel are another knifesmiths use.And another large circular saw blades("Buzz"saw) blades that we used to know that were used to cut logs into fireplace logs-the buzz saw ran from a farm engine or motor-or from the belt PTO of an older tractor.Lumber mill circular and band blades can be made into quality knives.Another form of recycling!Better that than scrap!
