We recently had a whole slew of stuff arriving damaged around here and the things just get worse.
Haven't seen such bad transport damage in ages, so I thought I'd post it even though this isn't a usual topic around here.
My partner lives in a basically completely uninsulated house.
He's the only party in the house that even has central heating (gas), all the others soly rely on wood ovens and electrical night storage heaters.
To somewhat reduce his heating bill we decided to get a wood oven for his living room. He has a chimney connection there, so not much hassle.
A local hardware store had a midrange oven that looked nice for 800€ and they had a 0% payment plan offer for the rest of the month. So we bought it yesterday.
His father has a small trailer, so he came with us to pick it up.
They loaded the oven on the trailer, we didn't think much of the somewhat flimsy packaging. Strapped it down, drove the 40 something minuted home.
Before lifting it off the trailer we removed the cardboard packaging.
And first we saw a loose piece of stone.
Than that 2 stone panels were cracked.
Then that the entire stone top was just missing.
And that the stone enterior was shatterer, shattering the window in the process.
And then that the 3mm metal housing was bent in multiple places.
What a bummer.
The store however agreed to ship a replacement to us. They're checking if they have an (intact) one in the store or if they need to order a replacement.
So at least we don't have to go through the hassle of transporting the broken one back and the new one here.
At over 200 pounds it is quite a chonker.
