Well, I finally completed my set of these beautiful Blue Heaven dishes. They were pictured on here months ago and when I saw them I just new I had to have some to use and display.
Here we are all set for dinner complete with vintage Coca-Cola glasses.

Dinner is Served!

Short on time tonight so I went with lite fare, Homemade Egg Salad, Santita's White Corn Chips, and Stewed Pears in sugar broth, and of course it's not the South without Sweet Tea!

Joe:

Congratulations! As someone who has put together a few sets of dinnerware and flatware himself, I know just how much work that represents.

Iced tea - the house wine of the South. I hope yours is lighter than my sister's - I think hers would probably work on pancakes.

Sweet finds and sweet tea

Congratulations on your accomplishment! I hope you enjoy them for decades to come. Are these dishes the ones pictured in some of the ads for the KDS14s?

Is one cup of sugar to a gallon of tea considered light or heavy? In my foolish youth, I used more sugar, but cut back to this as the absolute minimum level of sweetness decades ago. I tried all manner of artificial sweetners in combination with sugar, but did not like the after-taste they imparted.

Sugar

For sweet tea, one cup per gallon is light, 3 cups heavy -- mine is in between with 2 cups, I also use a tea maker that extracts the maximum amount from the tea bags. I love the way it turns out, but I only use it with meals, it's not good to keep a glass of it going all the time.

Flatware

I'm really not sure except to say that a good friend gave me the entire set for Christmas a few years ago, they are weighted and feel nice in your hand, they also have a hammered texture to the handle. I think they were purchaed at either TJ Maxx, or Marshalls. They have an emblem on the back that says gs
