any household items you seem to hoard? I've noticed I have a habit of hoarding these item in particular:
-rock&roll/pop cassettes
-"chuck taylor"shoes
-1980s delco cassette players

I have at least a year's supply of laundry detergent in

Just in case of a Zombie Apocalypse, just think of all those dirty blood-n-guts clothes, you'll be ready!

Hoarding

Pretty much anything and everything..... :-)

Mainly obsolescent/obsolete electrical/electronic testgear, also professional audio equipment. Huge amounts of spare electronic components (some of them still on boards/assemblies)

Current inventory includes 13 (at least, maybe more!!) oscilloscopes, 9 of them Tektronix (best 'scopes in the World)

All best

Even with Lots of A/C you can not have too many.....

Electric Fans,   I have some older vintage fans in the attic. But mostly hoard new ones that are pet friendly.  Between Labor Day and Halloween is the best time for clearance deals around here.  alr2903

Not exactly a huge hoard, but...

Four vintage KitchenAid food processors, made in Fance and heavier than a tank.
Cookbooks, vintage gardening books, history books.
Electric percolators (I have ten and use them according to my mood)
Russell Hobbs electric kettles, the traditional ones. One is in daily use and four are stored away for when this one goes belly-up.
Libbey Tawny Accent glasses - footed and unfooted.

I used to be over run with vacuum cleaners and Western Electric rotary dial telephones. Pared the vacuums beck to a small collection of what I like to use, and sold the phones on eBay, only keeping the three that are in use, here at the house.
Oh, I had a hoard of Panasonic dual cassette answering machines, too, but unloaded them on eBay before I moved from the city and went with a little digital gizmo.

There's also this to consider: There's a difference between collecting and hoarding. The line may be a fine one at times, but there's a difference. I have around 1,500 CDs, several hundred 45-rpm vinyl singles and maybe 500 vinyl albums. I consider that a collection, not hoarding.

On the other hand, if I had, say, 50 copies of T. Rex's Tanx album, that would probably put me in the neighborhood of hoarding.

Would a garage full of washers & dryers be considered "hording"???

Because somehow (not exactly sure how...) that's what I have.

u.s made towels

forgot to include U.S. made towels on the list;whenever I am at the salvation army or other thrift shops,i usually go through the towel stack and grab the ones that have a "made in usa"tag much nicer quality than most of the imports and "vintage"colors too!

'Scopes

Make that 10 Tektronix... I forgot the one at the workshop.

That's two 555s..... four 7623As.... one 7313.... one R7613.... one 7844.... one 7704. Is that hoarding?? I don't know. One of the 555s, the R7613 and the 7313 are for sale, so I am willing to part with things when necessary... ;-)

All best

ocilloscopes

I have a few of those too-I'll create a thread on those as soon as I identify them-I have about 6,one is very old(~1946)another is a huge one that weighs around 120LBs and has a large fan in the back end.

For me my hoards are:

Hoover Concept and Power Drive Supreme vacuums(my favorites to use and I have enough to last a lifetime)
vintage NIP or lightly used percale full sheet sets
hand soap( I have a good 3 dozen bottles from bath and body works, as well as wall flower replacements)
light bulbs(I hate those new fangled things so I keep a large stash of incandescants)
dinnerware(I have enough that I could have house guests for a long weekend and not use the same set twice)
vintage small appliances(I like made in USA stuff that performs a function with ease)
Christmas lights( I hoard away replacement ceramic red and transparent green C-7 and C-9 bulbs in fear of a day when incandescent Christmas lights will be no more)

Light bulbs-hoard HID Metal halide bulbs-100W,250W,400W pulse and probe start. And hoard the fixtures-been finding several at yard sales.electrical contractors get rid of them that way-some of my 100W ones came from a former clothing store.Very nice light!

Toilet paper. At least 18 rolls. Right now I have 30. It was on sale for a dollar off.

Food. I've got a month worth of meals, just counted them. I'd need to refresh bread and milk.

Beer. I've got 2 1/2 cases. Almost a month worth. It was on sale too.

Cigarettes. Just started hoarding those. Price goes up September first, every carton I hoard saves me $7.

Having been consigned to a retirement home by my family, much of what I used to collect has been sold or shuffled off to Goodwill/Salvation. Brother is storing my laundry set, just in case I ever get an actual residence again.

I made a major capital investment today, a Fry Daddy so I can make fish sandwiches. Those frozen fillets just don't work in the oven. I'm sure you understand.

Farberware:

Any time I see vintage aluminum-clad Farberware in a thrift or yard sale, I snatch it up. Even if it has issues, it's often good for parts. A nasty saucepan for a buck that has a good handle is a better deal than buying a replacement handle new. And Farberware only used two handle sizes.

I've been known to pick up lids and say - "Great - now all I need is the pot to go under it."

And, sooner or later, one turns up....

hoarding? ehhh, maybe. :-) I tend to temporarily reserve for some undetermined use in the event that something is needed. Lately, it has been cook books, lamps, barometer/temp/humidity set, clocks, phones, art supplies, kitchen ware, hardware, antique computer oddities, phones, and home shelving(lot of good Elfa shelving finds), camera accessories, furniture(for stereo and computer uses)...and occasionally candy, cake, ice cream, sherbert, and empty calories!

Hubby says my hoarding would apply to ALL vintage appliances, lamps and vacuums... LOL

However, I will admit that I cannot pass up mixer bowls (I have 100s...) and I have a 'prepare for the coming hard times' hoard of canned foods. I do rotate them, but I always stock up when specific items are on special. I joke that we could survive in Ogden for an entire winter if we got snowed in...

100s of mixing bowls? Many duplicates or mostly unique? It's hard to imagine that much variety in mixing bowls, other than the color of glass; green, white, brown, yellow and blue-ish tinted glass.

Maybe...only Martha S. has a couple more.....in "HER" house(s). lol

LED Lighting and lamps, I finally graduated from flashlights.

Every time I see a new LED lamp in a home store it usually follows me home for performance testing. There is so much innovation and creative design today. Solid state lighting has now broken the 100 lumen/watt barrier with high color rendering index light. And once we stop trying to make LED's screw into legacy fixtures then the development will really get interesting!
