Just browsing through various appliance websites to see if any updates have come up over the past few weeks, when I notice something odd on one of Whirlpool's dishwashers...

Does anyone find anything odd about the pictures of this particular model?

The last two aren't even WP machines. I can't tell if they are some form of Electrolux/Frigidaire model, or if they're photos of the Haier knockoff that accidentally made it onto the site. Even the photo with the SilverwareSpray bar is misplaced, as this model doesn't offer that feature. I'm not sure whether to laugh or be disappointed at the lack of attention paid to their websites these days. That square silverware basket was a dead giveaway!

My only other thought is that it could be a European WP and somehow the photos were linked by mistake, but I'm not familiar enough with Euro dishwashers to be certain.

It is an Asian-Chinese import, height compatible with ADA regulations.  GE has this same model.   Not sure what Frigidaire/Elux offers for ADA.  Cheaper to source than to innovate and tool a factory for the production of a couple of models with significantly lower demand.

The dishwasher itself is landfill fodder.

Landfill fidder

We had a dishwasher of this design but with a different brand logo on it - horrible. Cheaply built and idiotic programming that would only do one rinse after the main wash, leaving everything covered in grease/detergent residue. It also leaked steam and warped the counter.

Chinese Built ADA Compliant 24" Wide DWs

We are working an a lot of these DWs in office buildings in downtown DC. They appear to be about the same as all the 18" Chinese DWs that are being sold by everyone here in the US.

They work ok but are pretty cheaply built and we are replacing broken wheels on the upper racks by the dozen, almost everyone we see has all the tank and top rack wheels broken. Other than that it is a typical European copy with a crappy filter wash system similar to Bosch and many other crappy DWs.

odd photo Whirlpool DW

What I find odd is photo of silverware basket with points up. For me all the points should face down, knives, forks, and spoon bowls. That is where the food remains are, the water spray comes from the bottom wash arm, simple, logical, and you avoid getting stabbed reaching in.

Drifting website errors

I frequently find lots of errors on websites including pictures from other models or even other manufacturers and incorrect pricing and warranty information. Speed Queen's new website was a prominent recent example. Few websites have a place to report errors. If you try to call, you end up on hold to someone in a call center who has no ability to locate someone at the company who can fix the website. If you try to email them they usually want your name, address, phone number, email address, company you work for and job title, not very reasonable request given you were trying to do them a favor, or like Speed Queen they don't take email. So none of these things end up getting corrected.

To me there should just be a small (but universal) error button on each page so that when you see a problem you can click on it and type in a word or a sentence or two telling them what the problem is ... I complained about this problem to my brother, a website developer, he assures me there is no commercial incentive to correct anything....I think the key to making such an error button commercially viable would be to advertise it in lawyers journals… Have you asked your clients if they have an error correction method on their website?

In the meantime it makes it doubly hard on the consumer...is what you see on a website really what will arrive? How many of us make copies of what we see on a website before ordering the product so that if there is confusion later we're protected? I don't.
