Im probably going to get lots of angry replies to this but.....
As a child if I did anything naughty I was rewarded with a good ol clought across the tops of my legs where it really stings.
And although I remember the pain I would still clobber my own children.
ONCE IS ENOUGH THOUGH AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO I FEEL A PARENT SHOULD USE A WEAPON..... how do you explain to a 3/4 year old that ramming a teaspoon handle into a plug socket is wrong? They need a short sharp shock WITH THE BACK OF YOUR HAND to associate that activity with danger.
What really makes my blood boil though is seeing a parent in a supermarket really leather their children for whatever.
About a year ago I was in Asda and a young mum (ok she was probably under a fair amount of pressure with 2 kids and a large trolley of shopping, IM NOT DENYING BEING A PARENT IS HARD WORK) really laid into her toddler for throwing a tantrum. That poor guy must have had about 10 or 11 hard wallops on his backside.
The anger blew up inside me and I ended up saying a few choice words to the Mum before walking out the store.
Thinking about it has sent a chill down my spine,
That kid above has obviously been spared the rod and it has definitely spoilt the child.
