Are they really fulfilling a pressing need in the average kitchen or are they just trying to sell you twice as many skillets as you need to get the job done?

Note that he doesn't demonstrate what would happen if tried to sear in the Slide pan. Hmm . . .
 
Well, some foods you want to slide around without browning like eggs, pasta, etc, whereas some foods you do want to brown.

Seems OK to me. But how many people are willing to spend their money for such specialized pans? And Cephalon is not cheap!
