Maybe it's not way cool? Well, I like the racks and the window and the bottom wash arm looks interesting. Listen here folks, I happen to live on an island I don't get first hand news about this stuff like you do. There is a lot of water between me and you and I have to wait until the sailing ships bring the mail and they take a long time to get here sometimes, if they make it at all. Okay!

I mean, what kind of thread is this where I have to reply to my own post? Next time I write it on a piece of paper, put it in a bottle and throw it in the ocean. I bet I'll get a response lickety split. The residents at my nursing home have faster intellectual reflexes than you do.

I didn't even see your post! This dishwasher IS cool. I think Kenmore will have a version too. I just bought a new dishwasher about a year ago so I'm trying to resist the temptation to get another. That happened with my washing machine :-/

One of us should have posted this earlier: Several threads/posts about this dishwasher have come and gone in the past few months.  Don't take the lack of responses personally, Olav; those interested in it already commented on the machine in other threads.  Most who liked the design wished the internal lights could be switched on during the cycle.

 

It does look pretty cool.  I've checked KitchenAid's website a couple of times--yesterday, in fact--and  it still hasn't shown up there.

Personally, I'm at a point where jumping on new posts (I mean threads) is just "not my thing" anymore. 

 

This KA design is pretty neat, although I wonder whether it might breed even more excessive waste, by means of pre-rinsing, due to that nice window. I mean, if I go and buy a $3-Gazillion kitchen, thats never cooked in, and kept neat as a pin, do I *really* want to spoil that look with a dirty dishwasher window? 

 

RE Your foibles with trying to get replies, perhaps a thread entitled one of the following:

"My Whirlpool/Maytag/GE/LG/Samsung/F&P/Simpson/Frigidaire/Electrolux/ETC HE washer just broke down, is a Speed Queen just right for me?"

Or perhaps we should petition the Moderation Bureau for a Pay-For feature to keep your thread "featured" at the top of the respective forum its posted in?

It's okay. I am currently tending to my emotional wounds and they will heal; over time. Thank you for your support.

After making the initial post, I performed a search, which I should have done beforehand. However, only one thread came up, which surprised me. This dishwasher appears to tick a lot of boxes, especially for the voyeurs and it seems, to me at least, that KA went out of their way to come up with a unique design that isn't gimmicky like Samsung's Wall of Water dw and still exudes the KA identity. I was quite intrigued by the self-cleaning filter and the lower wash arm appears solid enough. Doing a quick search, I was able to ascertain that this model is not yet on sale, but will probably be a ToL product with a sizable price tag.

Unless I get on a plane I will never see this lovely machine in the flesh. Our FTA doesn't appear to cover major appliances from the US much, and many other fantastic products. Years ago, long before FTAs and China, we imported so much from the US and even made stuff here that reflected American technologies. Sadly those days have passed.

I have always found it odd that American companies are happy not to compete internationally. That they simply pack up and leave at the drop of a hat, after decades and even a century of being an established brand name in a place and then, one day, nothing. It almost appears to be a form of self-sabotage. I can't imagine German companies abandoning a market. If their sales were flagging they would brainstorm a way out of the situation to cement their presence and market share and not abandon their position.

Maybe there is merit in your suggestion washer111. Why not have a poster of the month featured? If someone makes a particularly perspicacious comment or posts great vids, or they are particularly helpful in sorting out tech specs and other issues, they could get a special mention. Maybe the post with the most amount of ticks for the month could be the poster of the month. TaDa!!!![this post was last edited: 9/7/2015-09:58]

You're right, Rapunzel. American companies are notorious for up and abandoning their markets at the slightest hint of necessary investment to stay on top. It's crazy.
I DO have to give KA/Whirlpool credit for this machine's fascinating wash arm, and that very cool "CleanWaterWash" pump. It's like a self cleaning filter and food disposer in one!
I'd love to see that design make it's way to other dishwashers.

No doubt it's a very impressive machine! In Brazil we have DW with windows for years, mainly in smaller capacities.

What rapunzel said about German brand giving up, sadly this kinda happened here. Not along ago Mabe (Mexican company) bought Bosch appliances here. Didn't take too long, Mabe went bankrupt and with it a couple of brands ( also owned by it) disappeared from market. Dako, GE Appliances, Continental (not the same for laundromat washers) and Bosch.

There's years we don't see German appliances on the market. The last were Bosch DW and FL and some imported/relabeled Whirlpool DW and FL. Appliance's market here is made of national products, a plenty of China rebranded and some Korean (one or other Samsung/LG WD or monstrous capacity refrigerator). Of course, it's rare but there's the importing firms but it's VERY expensive (crazy taxes and not great moment for economy especially) and there's American made KA for ridiculous prices.

Matheus there is a big difference between someone establishing a company to import high value products from abroad and a well-known foreign company actually establishing subsidiaries to export their signature products to your country.

My washing machine is a Speed Queen, but branded Kleenmaid, which was a boutique company that imported a very large range of kitchen, laundry and floor cleaning appliances from Europe and the US, which they re-branded with their company name. Shortly after I purchased my current washer they went bankrupt, nullifying all warranties for my washer. Luckily it is a Speed Queen and I had no need for repairs.

If I were to buy an Audi or a Merc I would prefer to go the Audi or Mercedes subsidiary in my country, rather than a completely independent business that imports these cars as part of their business model.

As for dishwashers with windows, I have seen small countertop dishwashers with windows being sold at various times, they seem to come and go. Electrolux launched a full-size stainless dishwasher with a window called 'Visi'a couple of years back - is that actually still available? Or was it a flash in the pan? I did a quick search on that model, but nothing much comes up that is very recent. Washer111 made a point about the window staining and becoming unsightly over time. I wonder if that is a legitimate concern.

Anyway, to all of you giving me moral support about the lack of responses to this post, thank you again, but I was being tongue-in-cheek, a bit of a drama queen so to speak. I've been on this forum for a very, very long time. I think dinosaurs were still roaming the earth when I began my addiction, er...obsession. At least it got the ball rolling.

I've seen this one (Visi) along ago! Was even a hotsite for it with little men taking care of the washing process to promote the sensors and this kind of thing. Wasn't sold here :/ But around 2009 Electrolux introduced this one on the link below that have been considerably successful, it quite reassembles a cheaper Visi "cousin". They made a improved model introduced this year, more "intelligent" and more monstrous looking. The design language adopted by Electrolux for my country is somehow exaggerated, too colorful and non-sense, but apparently this is what people seems to like here as reviews on online stores usually praises these colorful and exaggerated design choices. I prefer the European cleaner look... But clearly I'm not with the majority hahaha You can find washing machines with flowers printed next to the dials and electronic controls is nowhere near the cup of tea for most people. Would be funny if wasn't ridiculous sometimes.

About the "rebranded", sorry, I've used the wrong words :S Thank you for alerting! The Whirlpool subsidiaries here are Brastemp (more premium, the one that sells duets) and Consul (same as Brastemp without whistles and bells and, again, more colorful).
