Now here is an item that one just cannot pass up.
A fireplace that turns into a stereo system and bar!
And look at that price!
The receiver in this looks Telefunken-ish, but I don't think a Telefunken would be caught dead in this piece of tackiness.

File this under "What were they thinking when they made this!"

And why does the seller think he'll get $375. for this item? Even with the trim missing on the left hand door? And is that a BOL BSR turntable I spy in there too?

Could this just be another case of "It's old, so it must be worth a lot."?

It came from a barn. How many spiders does he have in it? At least he admits to only doing a light dusting. Does it reek of hay?

And I am sure he doesn't want to ship it because it may fall apart while putting it in a box.

I've seen things like this at antique shows, and I believe the ones I've seen were made in Germany. I'll bet this is one heavy piece of furniture.

The design appears to be traditional. It might be popular with today's mid-century-modern collectors if it looked space-age zoomy.

I guess if you were a big party animal in the late 60's / early 70's, this would be the right piece of audio gear for you!

Boy, is this thing ever kitschy ... They just don't make them like that anymore...

I don't honestly thing it's worth more than $20...

Oh my goodness-$375 for THAT thing????Please put it back in the barn---or better yet---the back of a RL Leach trash truck.Would love to see that horrible thing crushed to particle board bits. And the "Phono-sonic" receiver is TOO MUCH!and bet the plastic BSR TT rumbles like a train!Hi-fi it is NOT!!what sort of speakers are lurking behind the bright red grillcloths????

Those were the hugest POS, yet at the time.. I thought so very cool.
Our Pamida store had these in 1978-1979. Branded Electrophonic, and there were 4 designs. I can't remember the other 2, but one had a disco ball.
All components were as BOL as you could get.
If any "hipsters" went after this for the over-used phrase "mid-century modern" they might wanna check the dates of the stuff they are buying, because altho it seems like yesterday, 1979 doesn't fall in that class.. lol!

A mod swinger like myself would be the proud owner of such a groovy sound system.

"Oh, Jason, what a fabulous pad you have, pour me a drink from that stereo, baby"

Sure thing, two run & cokes from the stereo, and lay down on that plushy heart-shaped bed while I put on some Sinatra.

"But Jason, honey, the record's playing too fast"

Never mind that darling, it's just the turntable, it's a BSR.

"A BSR!" (slap) "I will NEVER date a man with a BSR turntable! Get a Voice of Music or a Magnavox and then we'll talk! BYE!" (slams door)
