THOR....HELP!!!

I think that I need the help of those of you who know more about this than I do (this would be just about everyone LOL).

I fired up the Thor and what happened is... When I put the lever to dry it spins and pumps as I guess it should. When I put it on washer (wash) it still pumps water but the agitator will not move. It is freed up and I can move it in either direction by hand. The motor runs but it seems to strain so I shut it off quickly. I can't get the tub out. The agitator comes out with no problem but the tub seems to be stuck! Any ideas would be appreciated as I don't want to break this great machine

the pump runs all the time to accommodate the overflow rinse.  Very much like the old Speed Queens.  Now the agitation issue, I don't know.

Thanks, Bob. That makes sense Mechanics was never my "thing". I hope someone can shed some light on the agitation and drum/basket removal problem.

First of all be sure to put hot water down the pump before you run the motor to prevent the seal from getting ruined from being dry all those years.

 

Does the motor sound like it is straining in spin? or does it just sound that in in Agitation?

 

If its ok in spin, you can fill the tub with very hot water, let it sit for 15 minutes, spin it out and let the machine drain, turn it off.  Then work on rocking the tub (when its hot) out of the machine.

 

After that, let the transmission get warmed up by letting it spin for a half hour or so with a big load of wet towels. 

 

The problem also could be the linkage assembly between the control lever and transmission not working properly.

YAY!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I still can't remove the tub BUT I followed your advice and checked the linkage(required tightening) and not only filled the tub with very hot water but I also mounted a hair dryer to blow hot air inside the cabinet to warm the works! It took a couple of tries but it finally worked!!! THANKS

I will see if I can snag Chuck to get some video of its maiden wash...TODAY!
