Hi Guys,
We have just had our laundry rearranged a bit and were thinking of bringing the dryer out of retirement and instead of shoving it on the wall where there is some argument as to wether it will fit or not,and so I was thinking of perhaps replacing the T.L. with a F.L.and sitting the dryer on top of it, however after our bad experience with the dreaded Bosch monster a few years ago I am a bit hesitant on them.
Just be interested to know which models you guys who have them have got and what would you think if worth considering if we go down that path.
A few models have taken my eye.
Both Simpson models 5.5 and 7kg.
Samsung 7kg, (bubble wash I think.)
And the new Hoover range.

Go and have a look at Beko.

I saw one in David Jones here the other day and they are everything I thought they would be. Appear to be well built, fully featured and flexible. If you're concerned about the low water usage, look at the website and then the user manuals. Appears that the test for the star rating has been done on a very low use programme where the more traditional ones use more.....

If you'd rather go lower priced than that, Euromaid come out of the same factory

Hi Chris, thank you, actually Beko are getting quite a run from Bing Lee stores at the moment washers and refrigerators as well, and yes they do look like a nice machine.

I have an Electrolux 8kg 1400rpm Jet System machine. Great machine after nearly a year of use. The Time Manager lets us take the time down on the cycle so it suits how busy we are. Has a great Bedding cycle which is a half hour wash at 40* then an hour of three rinses at a high level, great for clothes even.

Jetsystem works well just can kick up fair amount of foam if too much detergent is used.

Just recently matched it up with its dryer friend and its really steady as a rock even on 1400RPM. Just don't have much on top of the dryer because occasionally things shake off just from the vibration .

My friend has the Simpson 7kg front loader and that seems a good solid well built machine, just cycles take ages if the Fast Wash is not used.

I would recommend Electrolux. My parents have an LG and I hate it, way too fussy when balancing can add on 15 mins plus to the cycle trying to balance before even an interim spin.

I can concur with the Electrolux machines being good from a cycle point of view, but I won't be replacing my Wesinghouse badged, Zanussi made one with one of the current crop - I'm reading far too many reports of people having failures just after the warranty runs out....

We'll be going Beko or, if money is to tight, Euromaid....

Beko have, as I suggested a few years ago, really picked up their game after purchasing Blomberg....

@mattywashboy - is that dryer really an Electrolux-made one? I know it says Electrolux on the fascia, but it doesn't resemble the Electrolux/Zanussi dryers I've seen elsewhere, is this perhaps a rebadged dryer from another manufacturer?

It is an electrolux made dryer made, originally in Australia and now o/s for the Australian and possibly NZ markets.

Both the washer and dryer are made in Thailand

It is an Electrolux as Ronhic said. The design is altered for Electrolux's other brand here Simpson.

As for Beko being BOL, well they may be considered that in Europe, but if you give any credit at all to the reliability ratings on websites and to the actual feel and usability of a machine, then they are far far from BOL in practice.

Which? magazine, based on user ratings, has them ranked 3rd under Miele and John Lewis machines for reliability...significantly higher than pretty much every other machine in their price range.

Beko excellent 89%
Bosch excellent 88%
AEG/AEG-Electrolux good 84%
Zanussi/Zanussi-Electrolux good 84%

Go figure, here in Italy Beko isn't even listed in the reliability table of "Altroconsumo" our consumer magazine!

Miele topped at 97% reliability after 10 years
Siemens/Bosch, Candy/Hoover and AEG/Rex (Electrolux) got 93%
Whirlpool and Indesit scored 89%
Samsung scored 87%
LG was 85%
Sangiorgio (Fagor-Brandt) 84%

Maybe they've changed over time... I like the pet-hair removal feature on their top machine. Could be interesting because we own four cats and have a lot of hairy problems which clogged our heat-pump BOSCH dryer...
