I will probably be sorry for starting this thread, and end up deleting it but I can't help my little self. Actually I thought for sure I would have seen it mentioned by now.

A big YAY goes out to our police force at MSP airport, good job guys! How delicious is this whole thing with Larry Craig the senator from Idaho? This guy couldn't be more anti-gay if he tried, he has been a terrible menace to our community and once again another one of these sad self-hating closet cases gets outed. One really has to wonder how many of these evil right wing homophobes are just like this guy and haven't been caught yet. One after the next seems to be getting caught lately.

The press conference last night was hilarious to watch and did you guys see this news video from 25 years ago? I love the end! It's funny how someone who is so "innocent" can be caught over and over again. You can't hide anymore with our Internet/YouTube culture anymore and I think its great.

BTW, Craig is supposedly resigning tomorrow.

Of course he is...he's outlived his usefulness.

He carried the nation into Labor Day....soon they will have war on their minds, instead.

More carnage, more unhinged, baseless hate.

Great video from 1982 - it's true that you can't hide the past as easily as you once could with the internet and youtube culture now, but the most infuriating thing is the oblivious bleating sheeple back in his district that continue to elect the hypocritical bastard over and over again!

To me, it's not so much the sleazy stuff they do, but the ridiculous excuses they try to foist off on us: This guy with his "wide stance" on the toilet", that Florida GOP'er with his "I was scared of the black men in the park, so I offered a guy $20 for sex", and of course the old standby of "I don't remember"

Then they all either check into rehab, find God, or both.

How dumb do they think we are?

This guy with his "wide stance" on the toilet"

Ummmm, I love that story, I'm sorry but when you are in the bathroom stall and have your pants down around your legs it would be impossible to have a "wide stance". Let's try and come up with something better Larry.

Denial

In this case Toggles baby its: Cleopatra was not the only queen of DENIAL.

This guy is a flippin idiot!

It is time for Craig to resign....

Why was this just revealed to the public on Aug 27th? Not only does this behavior sicken me, but this is a GOP senator who has consistently voted against laws to protect Gay & Lesbian citizens. .He also supports an amendment to the US constitution to ban same sex marriage!

When will the hypocrisy end? Where is the religious right??

If this were a Democrat, the public lynching would have already begun..

We have another hypocrite here in Florida also...

TITUSVILLE, Fla. -- Republican State Representative, Bob Allen was arrested Wednesday for allegedly soliciting an undercover officer. The representative for Brevard County was arrested at a Titusville park.

According to police, Allen was arrested at 3:30pm at Veteran's Park along Broad Street in Titusville. Officers with the Titusville Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit noticed a car, Allen's leased Toyota Avalon, going back and forth near the park.

Three undercover officers, police said, watched him go into the bathroom three times. One of the undercover officers then went into the bathroom and into a stall. Allen allegedly started talking to the officer through the door of the stall.

Police said Allen offered the officer $20 for oral sex. When the undercover officer and Allen left the bathroom, officers arrested Allen. According to police, they did not know at the time that he was a state legislator.

While being led from the Titusville Police Department, Allen called the charges a "very bad mistake" and said he was at the park because he had helped build it and has a strong interest in it.

Allen was taken to the Brevard County jail on charges of second-degree misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution.

Allen is a Republican from Merritt Island who was elected in 2000. He is married and has a daughter. Allen is the chairman of the state's Energy Committee and serves on the Natural Resources Council.

The Governor's office was notified, but has not commented.

Btw, Rep. Allen too has a history of anti-gay votes. He is also helping fund a group that is trying to add banning same sex marriage to the Florida constitution. unreal...

If this were a Democrat, the public lynching would have already begun..

If he were a Democrat, he could simply be an openly gay politician. If he was openly gay he wouldn't need to do nasty illegal things like that, he could simply have a boyfriend like the rest of us. Democrats are not put under the same sexual scrutiny as are Republican because we don't need to hide. That's why Barney Frank back in the early 80's could make some bad/stupid choices like he did yet it didn't hurt his career. The real "sin" here is the lies.

If this were a Democrat, the public lynching would have alre

I was suggesting the public lynching would be from the religious right.
Does anyone remember Jerry Falwell referring to Barney Frank as a sexual deviant?..I wonder what ol' Jerry would have to say about Sen. Craig. (LOL)

Wow great thread. I too saw that on Fox this morning about his "wide stance" and got a good chuckle. You know that the late night guys are going to be all over this. Now the question is...how wide of a wide stance that this wide receiver need?? I saw the news conference that he had and he dug his grave even more. For one thing and I speak for myself...sex is the last thing I would even want to have in the public bathroom.
Boston's Logan Airport has a few bathrooms like that I remember when we went to Florida there was a guy at the urinal looking at me. He was throwing me some signals and I thought whats up with this bozo and what does he want. My partner just said one thing to me when I told him about it...DUH! I dont read Gaysex code well...yes 5 points off my GayCard...
I just wonder whos next.

He kept saying he was not gay, but he never said he was not bisexual. It's interesting how the ground never opens under them when these closeted hate mongers rant and rave and quote scripture, nor does lighting suddenly strike them down but, it's like the saying "The (mill) wheels of the gods grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine." Given enough time, a moment of weakness, a hunky man, a dark setting, a drink or two, whatever, the truth is revealed and in a more disastrous way than if the earth had swallowed them in the middle of a bigoted rant, because instead of just being killed, their business is put out on the street for everyone to see. Where does a homosexual go when all of his friends hate homosexuals or are secretly homosexual but can no longer be seen with someone who has outed himself? Do you suppose he will turn to reparative therapy? Don't you think that the morality crowd would begin to suspect that the very vocal anti-gay people are the ones most likely to be gay? Maybe they have lost the power to think since all they are told to do is believe.

Staying in the closet just makes for a very poorly adjusted person. People are so much better at playing themselves, rather than acting as if they were someone else. Sleezing around rest stops and bathrooms??? What a horrible unhealthy lifestyle! It is really too bad some have to be that way. It is real waste of a lifetime.

I will always be who I am, because that is the real me. I would not want to be an "actor" for others. Doing so would mean that I was living my life for someone else.
There are some that don't understand who I am and also who I choose to be with. However those are my choices, and I am the one that has to live my life. It is very simple choice, when one looks at it like this.

And folks, lest we forget, it was Rep. Craig who chastised a very horny Bill Clinton for getting a hummer in the White House by that pig, whats-her-name. Oh yeah, Monica. He called him evil, I believe. So much for the pot calling the kettle black, huh??

See, no one had to do it. The Republican Party has given itself so many black eyes over these past 8 years...everything they accuse others of, they are guilty of themselves. Disgraceful, as Senator John McCain said on The Tonight Show last night. Nothing but a bunch of bible thumping hypocrites.

And Robert, I'm glad you started this thread...I hesitated too, as I'm sure some others did. But hey, there's nothing wrong with airing the dirty laundry in public so long as you have a vintage Frigidaire to clean it up with!!

This is shocking to say the least.
But I don't understand WHY in the world someone would want to have sex in the bathroom to begin with. Most public bathrooms are just teeming with bacteria. Jeesh, I could never imagine doing it. Also, the possibilities of embarrassment are sky high!

I imagine our dear Larry Craig is now feeling embarrassed almost out of existance! I personally think that the best thing he could do to prevent further scandal is just to come out and apologize for his actions. And then to just come out!

He could never come out

He could never come out

What will happen is exactly what has happened with all these other liars and frauds. He will go "into retreat" at some fundie rest farm somewhere, then come out [pun intended] a month later proclaiming "God has healed me and delivered me of my sinful lifestyle."

All will be forgiven by his doting wife (fag hag) and followers (self-righteous bigots), and before you know it he'll be back in the saddle good as new and better than ever.

And, having learned from his mistake, will be far more discreet when groveling about in public toilets.

Yep. You can count on it.

P.S.:

I agree that sex in any public place is disgusting, especially the filthy, malodorous cesspool that a public toilet is. Especially one in a busy metropolitan airport. Ewwwwk. I can barely stand to go into one of them long enough to take a pee when I =HAVE= to.

But there is a subset in the gay community who find that idea quite alluring. Back in the dark ages, mens' rooms were quaintly called "Tea Rooms" and toilet sex was called "Tea Parties." To those really stepped in the tradition, so to speak, the ranker and filthier the toilet, the better.

There's just no accounting for taste, I suppose.

But I don't understand WHY in the world someone would want to have sex in the bathroom to begin with.
I couldn't agree more with you Allen, the whole idea is gross. As Maggie said above, it's a hold over from 60 years ago when the majority of gay men were forced to stay in the closet and had no other outlet for taking care of their natural human instinct. But for most part, to the out younger generations the whole idea is completely unnecessary, not to mention gross.

By the way, Matt Forman the head of the National Lesbian and Gay task force made a statement to the effect of why is the Minneapolis tax payers money being wasted on plain-clothes cops patrolling bathrooms at the Airport. Well in a rare turn of events I do not agree with Matt this time. As a proud gay liberal Minneapolis tax payer I am in total agreement with the Metropolitan Airport Commission this time, there is a time and a place for everything and the airport is not one of them.

Apparently there are over 100 rest rooms at MSP, but this one rest room in particular is listed on an international web site as a place to find this kind of behavior. Now what an "unfortunate coincidence" that this happened to be the one rest room that this Senator got caught in.

Don't you just LOVE hypocrytes? Especially the ones who throw around judgements, self-righteousness and moral indignations, yet they themselves are nowhere near "pure".

Methinks a hooker that gives her last dollar to feed a homeless person or donates to a chilren's charity has far more redeeming social value than the church-goer who is there to watch who comes and goes and gossip about others' hair, nails and weight and outfits and spread half-truths and rumors.

At least (s)he (the mythical hooker) has espoused her sexuality and is not putting on false airs. Those who supress their true instincts often find those instincts surfacing in rather inconvenient ways.

As for closeted men. They are often the most desperate horny/randy, dangerous risk-takers and are emotionally unbalanced/explosive. Teh menatality? "I'm not gay so I won't catch anyting" WANNA BET? No glove, no love. This include YOU mister macho. It never pays to lie to oneself; and we fags "See right through you", because where you are now, I once was. Been there. Done that, got the T shirt.

There is nowhere to run and hide. G-d sees all! And so do the neighbors.

As Quentin Crisp once said- Now that we all live in glass houses the only thing you can do is learn to urninate elegantly.

Disease

God only knows what sorts of diseases and filth this man (and others like him) may have brought home to their loving wives. Wonder if she's ever had to get treated for Crabs, or stabbed in the butt with a huge needle-full of penicillin for the Clap. To say nothing of HIV or the other host of vile possibilities.

He's probably a cruiser

"Cruising" is kind of a DL thing here in Mid-MO, especially at the Cosmo Park and even at Binder Park in Jeff City. KRCG, the CBS station in CoMO/Jeff City, did a report on cruising in November 05 and even the reporter got asked for a handjob (not on camera)

Robert, I think that cruising website is the one that ends in .org if memory recollects me. They have listings of all the gyms, spas, adult bookstores, parks, bathrooms, etc. The users on there give reviews on if they were able to get some, if there are cops patrolling, even post messages i.e. "Will be at Lowe's men's room around noon, and looking for a few good men." And Missouri has a lot of listings. And for all I know this Larry Craig could be a regular on there

I swear some of these Republicans are just turning out to be a bunch of douchebag hypocrites when it comes to anti-gay crapola. And why the F do they care whether Bob and Dan get married? Why is it any of their concern? Does it affect them personally? To quote Wanda Sykes, if they want to "protect the sanctity of marriage," make divorce unconstitutional.

He could join the Log Cabin Republicans, he could be gay AND Republican, which I still don't understand myself. You'd be joining the party that's all out to get you and prevent you from certain rights.

You better work. Work it girl . Do your thing on the runway.

~if they want to "protect the sanctity of marriage," make divorce unconstitutional.
Or better yet, behave in a manner that makes one believe you value YOUR marriage.

~And why the F do they care whether Bob and Dan get married?

Because if B&D (oh now THAT Is funny)get married and society accepts the situation, the closet cases have less reason to stay in their relationships with women. They will get the same rights and privileges and social status following their true heart and instincts by being with a man. They may not have to fear societal rejection as 'mos. Apparently, society fears an avalance of gay marriages. This may indicate that there are more on the fence (and that more discontent brews) than one may suspect.

Str8 men may not have realized this, but when gays finally begin to get legally get married, alimony and child-support laws may become more gender-blind or disappear to a degree. This will perhaps help them avoid being some ungrateful ex-spouse's meal-ticket for two decades or more. You wanted out? Get off your @$$ and work. There will perhaps be fewer automatic financial priviledges for throwing your heels up to heaven and shouting "JEEEEZUS come to me"

Hypocrites - through and through. I was confused last night.
I was relating it to the incident in Florida and was wondering
why the big todo about it again. I'm on the fence about paying
police to look for this kind of thing. If we're talking about
adults - it's none of their business - as long as it is taken
somewhere else than a public bathroom with the possibility
children might be in the area. When children aren't involved,
then it's a matter of what is acceptable/unacceptable whether
it be same or opposite sex couples. Same laws and enforcement
for either.

What I WAS upset about was the news saying it was the biggest
story across the country. This was the same day Bush was
saber-rattling and saying he was going to protect our troops
from (unproven) danger from Iran by whatever means necessary.
The tone of his voice was just disgusting. THIS is the person
all our law enforcement agencies SHOULD be targetting.

If this were a Democrat, the public lynching would have alre

No, if it was a Democrat, the only place you would hear about it is on conservative talk radio. The media has field days when a conservative Republican screws up.

Not for nothing, regardless of party affiliation, when an elected official is found doing something illegal at worst and gross at best, that person should step down. No citizen should be represented by someone who cannot seem act appropriate to the office for which he was elected (let alone appropriate social etiquette).

I read today that Fox News (We Distort, You Decide) had 38 seconds of coverage of this Craig affair yesterday. I wonder how much time the comedian Rush Limbaugh spent on this subject today? The Repubeicans seem to have a very well-honed talent for sweeping disagreeable news about their members under the rug quickly. I'll bet Alberto was thrilled to see Larry Craig come swishing out of the restroom stall, talk of his own resignation and prior wrongdoing, likely illegal as well, was all but forgotten.

Here is an audio file interview with one of Larry Craig's former restroom tricks in Union Station, D.C. given to the Idahoan Statesman. This goes back to 2004 so 'ol Larry must have a bookmark for quite a few cruisin places to visit.

Don't get your hopes up that his seat will be filled with a democratic candidate when it comes up again, the state of Idaho is all but owned and run by the Mormon church - just like Utah.
